The series is an animated adaptation of the manga by Aka Akasaka, with artwork by Mengo Yokoyari. The story centers on Ai Hoshino, a popular idol whose public image hides darker truths, and on Gōro Amamiya, a rural doctor whose life takes a sudden turn after meeting her.

Where the story left off (Season 1 recap)

Ai Hoshino, a 16-year-old idol adored by fans, appears to embody purity and perfection. Gōro Amamiya, a doctor and longtime fan, is shocked when she arrives at his studio while pregnant with twins and brought along her guardian.

Gōro agrees to help ensure a safe delivery, but a mysterious figure triggers his sudden death—at least as Gōro believes at first. He then awakens inside Ai’s body as one of her children, forcing him to navigate the entertainment industry’s harsh realities, where talent alone isn’t enough to stay on top. With an unexpected ally at his side, he sets out to protect Ai’s smile.

In terms of availability, all three seasons are accessible on ANiME Generation, a themed channel on Amazon Prime Video via Yamato Video, and they’re also available on Crunchyroll. On Netflix, only the first two seasons are currently listed.

For Italy, the manga is published by J-POP Manga under the title Oshi no Ko – My Star. The same publisher has also released the novel Oshi no Ko – Spica, la prima stella della sera, and it has announced Oshi no Ko – Futari no Etude, both written by Hajime Tanaka with supervision by Aka Akasaka.
