The film reportedly earned around 2.4 billion yen (about €12 million), landing it the ninth-best debut for any film in Japan. As the first animated movie drawn from Nagano’s manga, it’s immediately become the chart’s focal point.
Kingdom 5 slides after last week’s debut
Kingdom 5: Tamashii no Kessen dropped into third place following its launch the previous week. The live-action manga adaptation added roughly 734.2 million yen (about €3.9 million) to its take, pushing its running total to more than 3.3 billion yen (about €18 million).
Two major franchise titles debuted together in the middle of the chart. Kamen Rider Zets: Farewell Mission and Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity: The Day the Sun Cried both entered at fifth place, combining for an opening weekend haul of about 179 million yen (around €960,000).
New horror entry and a weekend drop
Dareka san to Asobo? debuted in seventh place, marking another new horror release from Takashi Shimizu, director of Ju-on. In its first three days, the film grossed approximately 118 million yen (about €632,000).
Meanwhile, Kuchi ni kansuru enquete fell from fourth to eighth during its fourth weekend. The title has accumulated about 578.5 million yen total (about €3.1 million) so far.
