Palworld Admin Commands Guide: How to Set Password and Enable Chat Controls
Palworld lets server admins manage their worlds in a variety of ways, but the game requires a security step before any admin commands will respond. You can enter these controls through the in-game chat window (open it with the Enter key by default), yet you still must first set an admin password outside the game. Without that password, you won’t be able to use console-style commands at all.
Admin command basics and requirements
To gain admin privileges, you’ll need to authenticate using the /AdminPassword command in-game. The admin password itself is set beforehand, outside the game, and the same value is used for verification once you’re in the server.
- These admin tools are entered via the in-game chat interface, which opens by pressing Enter.
- Admin commands only work after you run /AdminPassword.
- If you’re playing Palworld with friends, anyone in the group can also become a server admin by entering the /AdminPassword command and using the correct password.
All Palworld server commands
Below is a rundown of the server commands you can use once you’ve successfully authenticated as an admin:
- Gives you admin privileges for the server.
- Shuts the server down after a specified delay measured in seconds. Admins can also attach a message that players will see.
- Forcibly exits the server.
- Sends a message to all players currently in the server.
- Kicks a targeted player. This requires the player’s SteamID.
- Bans a targeted palyer (spelled as in the original list). This also requires a SteamID.
- Teleports yourself to a player.
- Teleports a player to you.
- Shows a list of all players on the server.
- Displays server information.
- Removes a player from your server’s ban list.
- Enters spectator mode. You can change views by pressing the backslash key ( \ ).
How to set an admin password (and what about singleplayer)
Dedicated server: set AdminPassword in the config file
If you’re running a dedicated server, you’ll need to edit a configuration file on your PC. Open the folder at the following location:
- steamapps\common\Palserver\Pal\Saved\Config\WindowsServer
Next, find PalworldSettings.ini. Open it in a text editor such as Notepad, then search for AdminPassword=”___” (using CTRL+F can make this quicker). Whatever text appears between the quotation marks is the admin password for the server.
If that field is empty, add your own password. After that, when you use /AdminPassword in-game, enter the exact password you placed in PalworldSettings.ini. If it matches, you should receive full admin privileges.
Singleplayer: possible, but requires third-party help
It is technically possible to set admin passwords for singleplayer, but not directly without third-party tools (for example, PalworldOptions). The approach uses an online tool to create a WorldOption.sav file, which you then replace in your local save directory.
The file you’ll be swapping lives here:
- \AppData\Local\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\
Use PalworldOptions to generate a WorldOption.sav that includes an admin password, then replace your existing WorldOption.sav with the newly generated one. Make a backup of your save files first, just in case anything goes wrong.
There’s also a clear warning: PalworldOptions isn’t affiliated with the creators of Palworld, and as with any third-party modding or save-editing tool, you use it at your own risk.
Cheat commands, mods, and next steps
Are there working cheat codes?
Palworld unfortunately does not include working cheat codes. However, some mods are capable of injecting cheat-style functionality into the game, which can enable features like spawning top-tier Pals or letting you fly around the map. Modding is still something you do at your own risk.
