In Moonlight Peaks, you can obtain Dark Wood by chopping down large tree logs or Weeping Willow Trees. For large tree logs, you’ll need a Copper Axe. Weeping Willow Trees, however, can be cut down with the Rusty Axe right away, without any tool upgrades.

These large, fallen logs are commonly scattered around your farm and can block your path. If you attempt to break them using a Rusty Axe, the game will prompt you to upgrade your tool first.

Weeping Willow Trees are the pale, white-leaved trees with vines hanging down from their branches. They grow in the Howling Marshes area, which you can reach by heading northeast of the Town Hall, or by going east of Luna’s Seed Stall.

How to Get a Copper Axe

You can buy the Copper Axe from Ridge at the Howling Hammer shop in Moonlight Peaks town. The cost is 1,000 Gold Coins, 1 Rusty Axe, and 3 Copper Bars.

  • Copper Bars: Brew Copper Bars by smelting Copper Ore at a Furnace, using Charcoal as the fuel.
  • Rusty Axe: The basic tool you start the game with.
  • 1,000 Coins: Earn Gold Coins by planting, growing, and selling crops. Early on, a simple way to build income is to grow Wily Wheat Seeds, convert them into Beer at the Keg, then sell the Beer.

How to Get Hardwood Planks in Moonlight Peaks

In Moonlight Peaks, you can craft Hardwood Planks at the Refiner using Dark Wood. The Refiner recipe becomes available after you repair the bridge during the “A Bridge Too Far” quest—this step then opens access to the Misty Shores and Ambrosia Manor.
