Frieren’s Aura the Guillotine Joins Pop Up Parade With a Budget-Friendly Figure

Good Smile Company’s budget-friendly Pop Up Parade series is getting another well-known character, with Aura the Guillotine from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End now open for preorder. Season 2 has only recently wrapped up, but the conversation around Frieren is already ramping up for Season 3, which is scheduled to debut in October 2027. With Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe’s fantasy manga continuing to expand its fanbase—and already remembered as one of the standout entries in the genre—this new figure gives collectors another chance to bring a favorite face into their display cases.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End launched its run in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 2020, right in the middle of the global pandemic period. It quickly became a hit, helped by a slower, more deliberate storytelling approach, a fantasy world that feels familiar and welcoming, and a cast that players and viewers kept talking about. That momentum carried over to the anime adaptation: Season 1 began airing in September 2023. A second season premiered in January 2026 and earned similar praise, even with a shorter format of 10 episodes. At the moment, Frieren holds the top position on MAL with a strong overall rating of 9.26. On the manga side, sales have surpassed 35 million copies, and the series has received multiple Japanese recognitions, including Kodansha and Shogakukan manga awards.

Meanwhile, One Piece—Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga—has been overtaken in the first half of 2026 in sales by a new-generation series that’s drawing a lot of attention.

Good Smile Company Reveals New Pop Up Parade Aura Figure

This week, Good Smile Company announced its next Pop Up Parade release via social media: Aura the Guillotine, one of Frieren’s most memorable antagonists. The figure stands about 170mm (6.7 inches) tall and depicts Aura posed with her signature Scales of Obedience, along with her sword, ready to use her Auserlese spell to judge opponents by weighing their mana. It’s listed at $42.99 and is available for preorder until July 22. Shipments are expected to land between April 1 and June 30, 2027.

Looking ahead, Season 3 of the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime is planned for October 2027, with fans expecting the popular Golden Land Arc to be adapted for TV. However, not everything in the franchise news cycle is positive: in October 2025, it was confirmed that the Frieren manga would move into an indefinite hiatus. Yamada and Abe are currently prioritizing their health while determining how the series will pace and serialize going forward, and there has been no announced timeframe for a return.

The Frieren property has been involved in a number of crossover events over the years, and one of the more surprising ones is set to begin on August 21, 2026. In Osaka, Japan, the Nakanoshima Museum of Art will host the exhibition “Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring: Dutch Masterpieces of the 17th Century” until September 27. Visitors may also find that Frieren goods are sold at the event. In May, a special crossover image featuring Frieren as the Girl with a Pearl Earring was shared online, and exclusive merchandise tied to the collaboration is expected to follow.

Fantasy anime fans have been dealing with a bit of a lull since Frieren Season 2 concluded earlier in 2026. Witch Hat Atelier served as a welcome fantasy pick during the Spring 2026 season, but that series has also wrapped up. A second season has already been confirmed to be in development, though. For now, Summer 2026 has a lot on deck for viewers hungry for more in the genre—ranging from Season 3 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and Skeleton Knight in Another World 2 to fresh entries like I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day and The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System. July is already shaping up to be a packed month for the anime community.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
