How to Find and Feed Hedgehogs in Disney Dreamlight Valley: Honeyglow Woods

Hedgehogs are the newest critters you can befriend in Disney Dreamlight Valley with the Honeyglow Woods Adventure Pack. While earlier expansion passes brought in multiple companion-ready animals, this one is more focused—Honeyglow Woods adds only Hedgehogs. To turn one into a companion, you’ll first need to track them down during their appearance windows and then feed them their preferred treats.

If you’re also working through duties in Dreamlight Valley, there’s a simple one tied to cooking and drinks: “Shake Up Your Snack Routine.” To finish it, you’ll need to craft and drink a “Shake.”

What do Hedgehogs eat in DDV?

In Disney Dreamlight Valley, Hedgehogs have two go-to favorites: Golden Honey and Pufflebud Pods. Golden Honey is tied to the new beekeeping feature added with Honeyglow Woods. Once you place a Bee House, it will generate Golden Honey over time. How quickly it produces depends on how many flowers you place around the Bee House—more flowers mean less waiting. Under ideal conditions, the honey takes about 10 minutes to be ready.

Pufflebud Pods, meanwhile, come from Pufflebud Seeds. To get the seeds, head to the area’s seed stall and grab the shopping list sitting on the ground nearby. That interaction unlocks the stall, letting you purchase the seeds. After you plant them, Pufflebud Pods take around 40 minutes to grow.

Hedgehogs will eat fruits too, but those aren’t their preferred options. If your goal is to unlock a Hedgehog companion, stick to feeding Golden Honey or Pufflebud Pods. In my case, I already had a solid supply of Golden Honey, so I used that to feed the Hedgehog.

Hedgehog Location in DDV

You can spot Hedgehogs across Honeyglow Woods. The Classic Hedgehog is available right away in the starting area as soon as you arrive and meet Winnie the Pooh. As you expand and unlock more of Honeyglow Woods, the other Hedgehog types start showing up in the newly opened regions. Here’s where each one can be found:

  • Classic Hedgehog: Drowsybloom Acre
  • Orange Hedgehog: Nectar Apiary
  • Green Hedgehog: Gloommeadow
  • Yellow Hedgehog: Bravehart Grave

How to Feed Hedgehogs in DDV

Hedgehogs are among the easiest critters to befriend in Dreamlight Valley. They won’t bolt away or duck out when you approach. Just walk up to a Hedgehog, interact with it, and offer either Golden Honey or Pufflebud Pods.

To unlock them as companions, you must feed them their favorite food on three separate days. Once you complete those feedings and the companion unlocks, the Hedgehog will show up in the Companions menu, where you can equip it whenever you want.
