Pokemon Winds and Waves Leaks Detail New Pokédex, Evolutions, and MMO Play
Fresh leaks for the upcoming Pokemon Winds and Waves have begun circulating online, claiming details on the regional Pokédex, new regional evolutions, extra battle-style variants, and even a more MMO-flavored structure for how online play may work. Because the Nintendo Switch 2 can’t be reliably datamined yet, many players expected the Gen 10 titles to stay relatively leak-free for longer, but that assumption is falling apart quickly. More reports are showing up now, and several are being tied to sources that fans say have been accurate in the past.
One recent batch claims that Pokemon Winds and Waves will add seven previously unseen Pokémon, with the information attributed to a leaker named Billy. Among the new species is a three-stage, pseudo-mythical-looking Pokémon that resembles a Komodo dragon at first, then later gains wings and is said to breathe fire. The same leak also points to a pirate-themed bird, a tapir-like Pokémon, a “sniper” echidna, and a kangaroo-inspired monster that leans into boxing motifs. On top of that, Billy’s set reportedly includes two possible version-exclusive Pokémon tied to day-and-night themes—one linked to the sun described as a hornbill, and another linked to the moon described as a rabbit. Billy is also said to be responsible for earlier information about the ports for Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen, shared before those releases were officially announced.
Another leak focuses more specifically on the games’ forms and how the new Pokémon might be distributed, including ideas for how the box legendaries could be obtained earlier than players might expect.
Pokemon Winds and Waves’ Pokédex, new regional forms, and battle gimmick variants
The leak claims the Pokemon Winds and Waves Pokédex will contain 530 species in total. It also mentions a cross-generation evolution for Salandit, with the evolution reportedly taking on a Poison/Dragon typing. On the gameplay side, the same report suggests special battle-oriented forms for Arcanine, Kecleon, Lucario, and Pikachu—along with additional gimmick forms for seven other Gen 10 Pokémon. It further claims the games will include “MMO-lite” elements for online play.
If the numbers hold, the roster would be made up of roughly 300 brand-new Pokémon, which would be a massive expansion—nearly double the size of the biggest generations seen so far. For comparison, Gen 5 is listed at 156 Pokémon and Gen 1 is listed at 151. Under this scenario, Pokemon Winds and Waves would reportedly have around 230 returning Pokémon plus about 300 newcomers. It’s still unclear whether the “300 new Pokémon” figure includes only entirely new species, or whether it also counts special forms and variants as separate entries.
Every Pokemon Winds and Waves leak mentioned so far
- 530 total entries in the Pokédex, with roughly 300 of those being new species.
- A regional evolution for Salandit, with the evolution described as Poison/Dragon.
- Battle-style gimmick forms for Pikachu, Arcanine, Kecleon, Lucario, and seven additional Gen 10 Pokémon.
- The story reportedly follows three main plotlines, similar in structure to Gen 9, and is described as “the most personable” entry so far.
- MMO-like features are said to be included for online play. A prior “Teraleak” report claimed an MMO-style lobby on the first island—the hotel where players begin their journey.
- Lt. Surge’s son is included in the game and is said to use his father’s Raichu. It’s not clear whether this Raichu would be able to Mega Evolve.
- Voice acting was reportedly planned for Gen 10, but current builds accessed by leakers appear to lack it.
- Reports suggest many developers have already moved on to working on Gen 10’s DLC.
Discussion of Pokemon Winds and Waves forms has been happening for a while, dating back to when the games first surfaced through the earlier “Teraleak” style of reporting. At first, the chatter reportedly centered mostly on weather-based moves, but the newest claims add that some Pokémon may also receive weather-themed forms. The leak explicitly calls out weather-form candidates such as Pikachu, Arcanine, Kecleon, and Lucario. Separate from those, newer rumors suggest the legendaries tied to the box art could be accessible early—players might obtain them ahead of time, then later transform them into their “true” forms as the story progresses.
Another part of the MMO conversation from the Teraleak era is also reportedly changing. While those earlier reports described a procedural generation plus MMO direction, the latest claims say that much of the original plan has been trimmed. Instead, the MMO-like pieces are alleged to shift Pokemon into a different type of experience—one allegedly set across four Japanese regions: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh.
The community has also been frustrated for years by the lack of voice acting in mainline Pokémon releases. Many fans pointed to this again when Pokemon Legends: Z-A released, and the criticism has continued since. With these Gen 10 leaks suggesting voice work may not appear in the current builds leakers can access, it’s still uncertain whether voice acting has been completely removed or just not present in the versions being tested. For now, fans can only hope it makes it into the final release.
