Nintendo Switch Online Classics Adds Wario Land and 3 More Retro Games

Nintendo has confirmed that four additional retro titles are now playable through the Nintendo Switch Online “Classics” collection. The newest wave brings three Game Boy games and one Game Boy Advance game, with Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 as the headline addition.

Nintendo Switch Online adds four Game Boy classics

  • Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (Game Boy)
  • Fortified Zone (Game Boy)
  • Sword of Hope 2 (Game Boy)
  • Dr. Mario & Puzzle League (Game Boy Advance — available only with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack)

Subscribers on Nintendo Switch Online’s base tier can play the three new Game Boy entries starting today. For many long-time Nintendo players, Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 stands out as the most significant arrival, since it finally delivers Wario’s playable debut to the Nintendo Switch platform. Wario Land 3 originally joined Nintendo Switch Online when the Game Boy and Game Boy Color libraries launched in February 2023. Later, Wario Land 4 was added in February 2025, and Virtual Boy Wario Land followed in February of this year.

Even with today’s update, Wario Land 2 and Wario Land 3 are still not available in Nintendo Switch Online. Wario World on GameCube is also still missing from the service.

Fortified Zone is a 1991 top-down shooter where you swap between two mercenaries, each with their own skillsets, as you work to infiltrate a military installation. Sword of Hope 2 is a more ambitious fantasy RPG that leans on point-and-click-style actions, including options like “Look,” “Open,” and “Hit.” The first Sword of Hope game was added to Switch Online in May 2025.

Those with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack can also jump into Dr. Mario & Puzzle League starting today. Released in 2005, the Game Boy Advance title packages two games together. While Dr. Mario is closely aligned with the Nintendo 64 version, Puzzle League plays and looks noticeably different from earlier entries in the series.

How big are the Game Boy and GBA Classics libraries?

Nintendo’s Game Boy and Game Boy Color library first arrived in February 2023, and it has expanded steadily over the years. Today, there are 46 Game Boy games available in the Switch Online Classics catalog. That lineup includes well-known titles such as Kirby’s Dream Land, Super Mario Land 2, Metroid 2: Return of Samus, and Tetris. The Game Boy Advance library was added the same day as the Game Boy and Game Boy Color expansion, but it has a smaller catalog overall, with 29 games currently available.

What else has been added recently—and what to watch next

The first eight months of 2026 have been a relatively busy stretch for Nintendo Switch Online’s Classics catalog. Alongside adding new Pokemon and Fire Emblem games to the GameCube library, Nintendo finally brought Donkey Kong 64 to the service, and it also rolled out a small batch of additional NES titles. On top of that, Nintendo Switch Online introduced a new Virtual Boy library, which currently includes 14 games.
