How to Unlock Kuromi’s Boutique in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

“Cake-tastrophe” is the opening quest in a City Town questline in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, and it ends with a new unlock: Kuromi’s Boutique, where you can craft custom Avatar Palettes. Here’s what you need to do, step by step, to get the shop available.

Checklists

“Cake-tastrophe” is the first quest in a series tied to the City Town area. Completing it leads to unlocking Kuromi’s Boutique, a store that lets players design their own personalized Avatar Palettes.

To start the quest, you must meet two requirements:

  • Imagination Cafe level raised to at least 13, which you can accomplish by fulfilling customer orders.
  • Unlock Hangyodon’s Tourist Shop by completing the quest “Washed In.”

With both conditions satisfied, begin “Cake-tastrophe” by talking to Kuromi.

Once you’re in, the quest objectives are:

  • Investigate the spooky cakes
  • Make cake umbrellas

Investigate The Spooky Cakes

Talk to Kuromi, who explains that since other characters have been opening shops in City Town lately, she wants one too. Your next move is to go to City Town and find her posted in the road near Pekkle’s Music Shop. When you speak to her again there, she reveals the plan: a place where she can offer people makeovers.

Usahana then shows up and tells you to follow her. Head with Usahana to the edge of the Fog, where she points out something wild: a huge Spooky Cake.

The rabbit explains that these Cakes have been appearing around City Town. While City Town has responded to characters’ wishes with similar events in the past, she isn’t sure what’s causing this round—and she wants you to investigate.

Use your Camera to take a selfie of yourself and Kuromi in front of the Spooky Cake. The photo only counts if both you and Kuromi are visible. Afterward, talk to Kuromi again; she says she messaged Hello Kitty, but Hello Kitty doesn’t know why the Spooky Cakes are showing up.

Make Cake Umbrellas

Usahana isn’t upset that the Cakes are appearing, but she’s concerned about them getting soaked if it rains. Your task is to talk to Chococat, who can be found either in City Town or near his tent at the Resort Gate.

Chococat proposes a solution: make Cake Umbrellas to shield the Spooky Cakes. You’ll need to gather and then gift these materials to Chococat:

  • Rubber x 5 — found around the Seaside Resort
  • Stick x 3 — found around the Seaside Resort, Gemstone Mountain, or Snow Village; these sticks can also be obtained as a bonus when catching Clamfish

After you deliver the items, talk to Usahana in the City Center to hand over the Cake Umbrellas. Kuromi initially feels defeated, assuming nobody wants to help her open her shop. Usahana returns to assure Kuromi that with the Cakes handled, she’s finally ready to help—and she even points out where the Boutique will be: on the rooftop next to the Theater.

The quest wraps up here, but there’s still plenty of preparation before Kuromi can officially open her Boutique.
