Beat Master Jiggy Again and Reach the Bubble to Soar in the Wasteland

After clearing the mines, diving through the deep blue sea, and even making time-travel shenanigans happen back when dinosaurs still roamed, it’s finally time to take to the skies. Once you’ve beaten Master Jiggy again, head back to the Wasteland and follow the route between the purple rock formations until you reach the bubble at the far end. That bubble lets you float back and forth between Isle O’ Hags and Cloud Cuckooland whenever you want, which is handy when you’re juggling multiple objectives.

If you need to get to Cloud Cuckooland from scratch, fast-travel to the Wastelands, climb the hill, and go through the crack in the blue rock wall. There’s a bubble right there that lifts you into the magical world above.

Cloud Cuckooland is one of the livelier stops in Banjo-Tooie, and the name pretty much gives away the vibe. Expect lots of aerial movement, a couple of athletic-style contests, a puzzle involving a safe, and even a chaotic detour where you get to cause trouble in a trash can. A portion of these goals are covered elsewhere in the Jiggies and Collectibles coverage, but below are the steps that help you prepare first—so you’re not stuck later wondering how you’re supposed to reach a certain platform.

Central Cavern Exits Guide

From the moment you step into Cloud Cuckooland, there’s just one warp destination you can fast-travel to: Central Cavern. From there, you can reach all outdoor areas, though not every character can use every exit. If you split up, you’ll sometimes need Banjo to take an alternate route from Kazooie, depending on which paths are accessible.

The guide for the exits is organized clockwise, beginning with the exit carved into the green rock wall at the top of the cave with the red glass. To choose the right one, stand on the warp pad, select the destination from the table below, then rotate your view to spot the correct route. One more limitation to keep in mind: Banjo alone can’t use the top green exit, and Kazooie can’t go through the underwater passages.

Some exterior locations—Humba Wumba’s area is one example—can only be reached either by flight or by using a flower warp.

Hatch the Three Floatus Floatium Eggs

Cloud Cuckooland has three purple eggs that must be hatched to unlock a brand-new transportation option for Banjo. Since only Kazooie can hatch eggs when she’s acting solo, you’ll want to start at the Split-Up Pad in Central Cavern. It’s smart to finish the egg-related work in a single run so you don’t have to switch back to Kazooie later just to continue.

The first egg sits near the Split-Up Pad inside Central Cavern. Use the pad to switch to Kazooie, then have her sit on the egg to hatch it. This Floatius Floatium is required so that Banjo can learn his Sack Pack move.

While you’re Kazooie, grab the Claw-Clamber Boots near the warp pad in Central Cavern. Then run up the wall using the yellow footprints to reach the higher exit.

Outside, on a platform, you’ll find the second egg that Kazooie is able to hatch. That egg unlocks a Floater creature you’ll need later.

The third and final egg is on the blue-and-purple platform beyond a thorny path. Because Kazooie can’t sprint across thorns (and the Sack Pack move is what normally handles them), you’ll have to reach this one by floating or flying rather than trying to run through.

Once all three eggs are hatched, Banjo gains access to new routes. He can then use the Taxi Pack move to deploy Floaters—letting them carry him through the air for a limited window of time.

Find the Beans and Grow the Beanstalks

Next up are two hidden seeds in Cloud Cuckooland that you can use to grow giant beanstalks. Doing this early is a good move, since it makes the rest of the traversal far less frustrating—especially when you’re trying to reach islands that would otherwise be out of reach without wing-based movement.

Both magical beans are located on the outside platform where there’s mud and covered pits. From the warp point inside the mountain, take the bottom green exit.

The dirt patch you reach through that route includes several covered pits, similar to what you saw in Jolly Roger’s Lagoon. Use the Bee Drill to break them open and collect what’s inside, including the Springy Step Shoes and the important magical seeds.

After you’ve found both beans, you’ll need to plant them in two different spots.

You can’t bring Kazooie along for this section, so split up at the pad near the warp point and go solo as Banjo.

This exit routes you toward the Red Mumbo Skull. Without Kazooie’s wings, you’ll have to rely on Banjo’s double jump using the spin attack to reach the platform.

From there, climb the vine to the top and move through the hole.

You’ll need to hop across a few more yellow platforms until you reach a ledge where a Floatius Floatum creature is waiting. Approach it and get ready to capture it.

Once Banjo captures it into his backpack, he can get airborne and float forward across the gap toward the island that matches the flower color.

In the center of that small floating platform is a tiny hole where you can plant the magical bean.

To plant the second bean, go back and take the red exit at the bottom of Central Cavern. Then hop to the platform by extending your jump with Banjo’s spin attack, and climb up the vine.

Use the Sack Pack move to cross the thorny bushes safely. Watch out for the wasps—use long jumps to avoid getting knocked down.

After both beans are planted, complete Mumbo Jumbo’s Rain Dance to finish the side quest fully. For additional related steps, refer to the section further down.

Link to the Past: Terrydactyland Jiggy

Cloud Cuckooland also includes a challenge that unlocks a Jiggy located in a past realm: Terrydactyland.

When you dive in the cistern as Banjo-Kazooie, fire Kazooie forward like a torpedo to smash the drain cover.

Cloud Cuckooland floats in the skies above Terrydactyland, and the water draining from the lake will flow all the way down to an area that needs it.

By helping Dippy the Dinosaur, you’ll receive this Jiggy:

Mumbo Jumbo’s Skull: Rain Dance

In Central Cavern, there’s a large tank of water below the ledge that leads toward the Turbo Trainers and the sprint race outside. That water tank contains one of the two Glowbos for this world.

To make full use of Mumbo’s magic, you’ll have to plant two magical seeds. You can dig the seeds up from mudcracks fairly early during your travels (the Beanstalks section covers that), but the planting itself takes more work. Use the Split-Up Pads inside Central Cavern to send Kazooie outside through the two upper tunnels: she’ll need the Claw Clambers for one tunnel and the Springy Step Shoes for the other. Once outside, hatch the eggs on each ledge. Later, return as Banjo, find both Floaters, and use them to float you to the far island that shares their color. From there, you can plant the seeds.

After both seeds are in the ground, locate the true Mumbo Jumbo and bring him to the Mumbo Pad jutting out from the sprint track on the elongated purple ledge.

The complication is that there are two Mumbo Skulls—one red and one blue. You won’t know which one is the real Mumbo until you check them. The good news is that they’re easy to locate: simply leave Central Cavern via the red and blue exits on the lower floor to find each skull.

Mumbo’s Rain Dance doesn’t just trigger beanstalk growth—it also causes a rainbow to appear near the Pot O’ Gold. Because of that, you only need to activate Mumbo’s Power once, and only after you’ve planted both magical beans. Doing it this way cuts down on unnecessary backtracking.

Once you’ve located and unlocked the real Mumbo, switch to him and enter Central Cavern. The exit you want is the blue one at the end of a long, narrow walkway. Climb the steps, follow the ledge to reach the exit, and you’ll arrive in the Sprint Track area where the Mumbo Pad sits on a platform to the right. Trigger the Rain Dance, then swap back to Banjo-Kazooie when you’re finished.

Humba Wumba’s Wigwam: Bumble Bee

You can find the Glowbo needed for this task in the pool of water on the lower level of the green ledge where the ice cube was discovered.

Once you’ve grabbed that Glowbo, surface and climb up to the cistern’s edge. You’ll spot George Icecube—husband of the late Mildred—at the far end of the area. Push George along (he requests it) to send him to Mildred’s world, which reveals a hidden Flight Pad.

Use the Flight Pad to get airborne, then head over to Humba Wumba’s Wigwam.

Give the Glowbo you collected to Wumba, and she’ll transform you into a Bumble Bee.

As the Bumble Bee, you’ll have to handle multiple tasks. These include grabbing a Jiggy from Eyeball plants, blasting your way into the beehive sitting atop the mountain, and then winning the mini-game in the Zubba nest. Since these tasks take some practice, spend a bit of time getting comfortable with the bee controls before you move on to the Eyeball plants.

The Bumble Bee form is also a convenient way to collect all music notes in this world. For instance, you can fly high enough to reach Central Cavern and grab a batch of notes from the walkway.
