How to unlock “Rainbow or Bust”

Before you can begin, you’ll need to finish “Renovation Imagination”, which is Usahana’s Level 14 Friendship Quest. On top of that, you must complete “Dessert-ed Boat” and unlock Pompompurin’s Dessert Boat in Gemstone Mountain’s Oasis.

Once both prerequisites are out of the way, you can start “Rainbow or Bust” by talking to Cinnamoroll anywhere on Friendship Island.

  • Deliver Packages for Cinnamoroll
  • Hang Out at the Imagination Cafe
  • You Can Look For Rainbow Beams

Deliver Packages for Cinnamoroll

After you speak with Cinnamoroll, he explains that he wants to visit City Town, but first he has deliveries to handle. Since Cinnamoroll is always working hard, you step in to help him out.

Next, you’ll need to speak to three characters in a specific order. Each conversation will ask Cinnamoroll if they can join the trip to City Town, and he agrees every time.

  • My Melody — Typically found in or near Small Gift, Big Smile
  • Kuromi — Typically found in the Potion Hut or around Spooky Swamp
  • Pompompurin — Will be found in the Dessert Boat during this Quest

When all three deliveries are finished, go back and talk to Cinnamoroll. He’ll then ask you to meet him in City Town.

Hang Out at the Imagination Cafe

Upon arriving in City Town, you’ll find Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody, and Pompompurin together with Usahana in the City Center area. Talk to Cinnamoroll, and he’s ready to explore—until the weather immediately turns rainy, putting everything on hold.

Usahana suggests switching plans and heading to the Imagination Cafe. Go inside and speak with Cinnamoroll again to find out what he and his friends want to eat: they all want Sweet Mochi.

You’ll have to craft five Sweet Mochi at the Chef’s Station. Use the following ingredients:

  • Rice Flour x 5 — Made at the Chef’s Station from Rice and Usahana’s return gift
  • Candy Cloud x 5Cinnamoroll’s return gift

After cooking, give the Sweet Mochi to Usahana. She hands it out to everyone, and the group shares the treat together. Once you’re done, Usahana says the rain has stopped, and you can all head back outside.

You Can Look For Rainbow Beams

Go back outside the cafe and talk to Cinnamoroll one more time. He and Usahana search for a rainbow and spot several tiny ones scattered around the city. Usahana explains that these are Rainbow Beams, and that they appear in City Town every time it rains.

The Quest concludes here. From now on, you can collect 3 Rainbow Beams in City Town each day. Three will appear daily even if it didn’t rain the previous day. If it rains during the day and you’ve already gathered that day’s beams, there’s a chance that more Rainbow Beams will spawn.

You can find Rainbow Beams in various spots across City Town, including on rooftops. However, they do not appear in the Sewers.

Finally, when you reach friendship Level 16 with Usahana, you unlock the recipe for Rainbow Dango. The dish uses 1 Rainbow Beam plus 3 of any Mochi. This is Usahana’s three-heart gift, making it her most loved item—so regularly giving her Rainbow Dango is one of the fastest ways to boost her Friendship.
