Mass Effect 3 Model Ships Guide: Find All 17 Collectibles on Normandy

In Mass Effect 3, Model Ships are a set of seventeen silver ship and station collectibles that live in the Captain’s Cabin on the Normandy. Ten are tucked away somewhere on the ship’s decks, six can be bought from shops around the Citadel, and the last one is tied to a specific condition at the close of Mass Effect 2’s downloadable content. This guide breaks down where every single model can be found and how to get them all.

Quick facts

  • There are seventeen silver “Model Ships” spanning ships and stations from across the Mass Effect series.
  • All models are displayed in the Captain’s Cabin on the Normandy.
  • Ten are hidden across the Normandy’s decks.
  • Six are purchasable from various stores on the Citadel.
  • One model only becomes available if you picked it up at the end of one of Mass Effect 2’s DLCs.
  • Purchasable models share a base cost of 1,000 credits.

Checklists

The collection consists of seventeen silver ship and station models spanning the wider Mass Effect universe. They’re displayed in the Captain’s Cabin on the Normandy, so once you track them down (or buy them), you’ll eventually have a full showcase.

To make the list manageable, the guide divides them into two main paths: models you can buy on the Citadel, and models you hunt down aboard the Normandy. There’s also one special case tied to the end of a Mass Effect 2 DLC.

For players shopping for their collection, every purchasable model uses a starting price of 1,000 credits. Those items also won’t always appear immediately; they tend to unlock as you progress through the main story and encounter certain moments.

All Mass Effect 3 Model Ships

These six model ships are available for purchase through stores on the Citadel. They don’t all show up at once, and availability often improves after you’ve seen one of the earlier story beats.

All purchasable Model Ships share the same base price: 1,000 credits.

Many of these models also showed up as purchases in Mass Effect 2. In Mass Effect 3, they’re generally offered to all players—except for one exception—assuming you can locate them during the right timeframe. The hidden models are scattered across the Normandy’s decks, with the Captain’s Cabin notably excluded from where they can spawn.

CIC & Crew Deck Model Ships

Alliance Shuttle

On the CIC deck, the only collectible is tucked into a hallway that links the War Room to the CIC itself. The spot sits beside the wooden Briefing Room Table.

Between the Briefing Room and the War Room there’s a corner area filled with boxes and slightly displaced floor tiles. In that corner, you’ll find a stack of crates lit with an amber glow, and the Alliance Shuttle Ship Model rests on top of those crates.

Destiny Ascension

The Crew Deck’s only collectible is located in the Life Support room. When you enter from the elevator, the Life Support door is on the right, just beside the Memorial Wall.

Look toward the back-left corner of the Life Support room. The Destiny Ascension Ship Model is placed near a white table, sitting in the corner there.

Engineering Model Ships & Space Hamster

Every engineering-related ship model—and the Space Hamster—is found in the Sub-Deck. To reach it, use one of the doors positioned on either side of the elevator, then descend the stairs along the side of the hall.

Turian Cruiser

On the Sub-Deck, the Turian Cruiser Ship Model is positioned on the right side. It sits near the edge of a white crate, tucked beneath the right-hand side of a thick metal frame archway that stretches across the room.

Sovereign

The Sovereign Ship Model is located at the back of the Sub-Deck. Find it at the edge of a crate positioned behind a desk that’s lit with a white glow.

Shadow Broker Ship

The Shadow Broker Ship Model can be picked up on the left side of the Sub-Deck. It’s placed between the left side of the thick frame archway spanning the room and a pair of white-and-grey cube crates stacked on top of each other.

Those stacked cube crates sit in front of a white-lit desk, and the model is among that left-side area.

Space Hamster

The Space Hamster is a moving target on the Sub-Deck floor. It follows a looped route, traveling from left to right, waiting for about 25 seconds, then switching to a right-to-left path and repeating.

Picking it up is tricky: you need to get close, line up your view almost straight on it, and still move quickly enough to catch it while it continues its routine.

Cargo Bay Model Ships

Geth Cruiser

The Geth Cruiser Ship Model is easiest to spot from the entry elevator when you’re facing down into the Cargo Bay. Stand there and look to your right past the Armor Locker terminal.

You’ll see a pile of crates. The Geth Cruiser is concealed on one of the crates in the middle of that pile.

Alliance Cruiser

The Alliance Cruiser Ship Model is also in the same crate pile on your right after you step out of the elevator. It’s located toward the back side of that stack of crates.

Freighter

The Freighter Ship Model hides in a small nook. From the entry elevator, face down the Cargo Bay, then turn left and move past the Weapon Bench.

There’s a gap between two large boxes. Go to the far end of that space, turn right, and you’ll find the Freighter Ship Model sitting on top of a white crate.

Quarian Ship

The Quarian Ship Model is positioned near James Vega’s bodybuilding area on the left-hand side of the Cargo Bay. It’s sitting on a white box just to the left of the entryway.

Normandy SR-1

The Normandy SR-1 Ship Model is found in the back-left part of the Cargo Bay. Specifically, it’s located near the backup Kodiak Shuttle.

The model sits on top of a small box close to the shuttle’s nose, with two white crates nearby.
