Add Mega Evolution to Cobblemon: Mega Showdown and Navas ZA Mods

The Cobblemon mod for Minecraft doesn’t include Mega Evolution out of the box. If you want to bring Mega Evolutions into your Cobblemon world, you’ll need to add Cobblemon: Mega Showdown—and, for the newer Mega content tied to Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you can also install the Navas ZA Megas mod.

If your Pokemon are injured—or even fainted—you’ll also want the game mechanics to help you get them back to full strength.

How to Mega Evolve in Cobblemon

  • Requirement: Cobblemon: Mega Showdown (CurseForge/Modrinth)

To Mega Evolve Pokemon in Cobblemon, you first need to install Cobblemon: Mega Showdown. This mod adds the ability to craft and use Mega Stones during battles, letting you trigger Mega Evolution alongside other battle mechanics such as Z-Moves, Dynamax, Gigantamax, and Terastallization.

To install Mega Showdown, download the correct file from the mod’s page and place it in the mods folder in your Cobblemon setup.

Once it’s installed, Mega Evolution in Cobblemon: Mega Showdown requires two items:

  • Mega Bracelet (Key Stone)
  • Mega Stone

Mega Bracelet is crafted using a Key Stone, while Mega Stones are crafted using Raw Mega Stones. You can obtain both Key Stones and Raw Mega Stones from Megasites, which are underground structures that generate between Y: 5 and Y: 20. After you locate one, dig toward its center to find either a Key Stone or a Raw Mega Stone.

How to Find Megasites

While you can occasionally come across Megasites naturally, using Xaero’s World Map (CurseForge/Modrinth) makes it much easier to track them down.

To locate a Megasite with Xaero’s World Map, open the map and click the Cave Mode icon in the bottom-left corner. Switch the setting to Cave Mode Type: Layered, then move the Cave Mode Top Y slider to 5. The map will then switch to an underground view with more detail.

In that view, look for a perfectly spherical dark gray/purple ball, like the one shown in the screenshot referenced in the guide. Those spheres are Megasites. Don’t confuse them with amethyst deposits, which are brighter purple and far more common.

When you find a Megasite, dig down until you reach it. Mine the structure’s center using a Gold or Diamond Pickaxe, and you’ll retrieve either a Key Stone or a Raw Mega Stone.

How to Make a Mega Bracelet in Cobblemon: Mega Showdown

After you obtain a Key Stone, you can craft a Mega Bracelet using:

  • Iron Ingots x5
  • Diamond x1
  • Key Stone x1
  • Apricot x2

The color of the Apricot controls the visual color of your Mega Bracelet. The available cosmetic colors are Red, White, Yellow, Pink, Blue, Green, and Black (black is purely cosmetic).

To equip the Mega Bracelet, open your inventory, switch to the Accessory Screen, and put the Mega Bracelet into the Mega slot on the left side.

How to Make Mega Stones in Cobblemon: Mega Showdown

All Mega Stones in Cobblemon: Mega Showdown use the same base crafting pattern:

  • 1 Raw Mega Stone in the middle slot
  • 1 Diamond in the bottom-middle slot
  • 2 Iron Ingots on the left and right sides
  • 1 Key item related to the Pokemon in the top-middle slot

With three exceptions, the only difference between individual Mega Stones is which top-middle item you place in the recipe. For the full set of Mega Stone recipes, the guide directs you to the later section of the article.

Rayquaza is the only Pokemon that doesn’t require a Mega Stone to Mega Evolve. Instead, it only needs to learn the move Dragon Ascent.

How to Mega Evolve in Battle in Cobblemon: Mega Showdown

Once your Mega Stone is crafted and your Mega Bracelet is equipped, you’re down to two steps:

  • Give the Mega Stone to the Pokemon as a Held Item: Equip the Mega Stone on your hotbar, then release the Pokemon you want to Mega Evolve. Crouch + Left-Click the Pokemon, and choose “Change Held Item.”
  • Use Mega Evolution in Battle: Start a battle with the Pokemon, choose “Fight,” then click the “Mega Evolve” icon in the bottom-left corner. Select the move you want to use. The Pokemon will Mega Evolve on its turn.

You can also trigger a Mega Evolution outside of battle by pressing Shift (Crouch) + Left-Click and selecting Mega Evolve from the radial menu. However, that outside-battle change is only visual. If you enter a battle with that Pokemon, it will return to its non-Mega state, and you’ll need to Mega Evolve through the normal battle steps.

All Mega Stones in Cobblemon: Mega Showdown

In the latest version of Cobblemon: Mega Showdown, there are 47 Mega Evolutions available. The guide presents a table listing all Mega Stones in Mega Showdown and the Key Items needed to craft each one.

Muscle Band (replace Diamond with Dark Gem)

Soothe Bell (replace Diamond with Psychic Gem)

Soothe Bell (replace Diamond with Dragon Gem)

The Mega Evolutions added in Pokemon Legends: Z-A are not included in the current Cobblemon: Mega Evolution version. To get those into your game as well, you can install Navas ZA Megas (CurseForge/Modrinth).

That mod is designed to work alongside Mega Showdown, covering every Mega Evolution currently available for Pokemon. To learn the crafting recipes for the new Mega Stones, the guide recommends using Just Enough Items (JEI), which is covered in the next section.

How to Find Mega Stone Recipes in Cobblemon: Mega Showdown

It’s strongly recommended that you install and use the Just Enough Items (JEI) mod for Minecraft (CurseForge/Modrinth). JEI shows the exact crafting inputs for items throughout the game, including items added by mods.

For example, if you want to Mega Scizor and need the recipe for Scizorite, you can use JEI like this:

  1. Open your inventory and type Scizorite into the search bar at the bottom.
  2. Click the Scizorite entry on the right-side list of recipes to display the item’s exact crafting recipe.
  3. The recipe display will show that you need Iron Ingots, Diamond, Raw Mega Stone, and a Metal Coat.

If you’re missing one ingredient—like Metal Coat—you can click that ingredient in JEI, and the interface will show you how to craft it yourself.
