Marvel Rivals’ New Captain America Swimsuit Skin Sparks Mod Rumors

NetEase Games is kicking off the 4th of July celebrations in Marvel Rivals with a brand-new Captain America swimsuit skin, delivered as part of a larger bundle for the First Avenger.

For the past few days, it’s been tough to avoid the comic-book-style hero shooter, as players rush to react to Captain America’s newest cosmetic. This new drop continues Marvel Rivals’ ongoing streak of beach-ready outfits for a growing roster of heroes and villains—there’s also swimwear for Loki and White Fox—but the Captain America release is the one drawing the most attention.

The outfit is called Seaside Sentinel, and it gives Captain America a full-on “USA summer” makeover right in time for the holiday. If you pick up the cosmetic, Steve Rogers swaps out his usual battle-ready look for something far more beach-themed: an inflatable ducky shield and a very tight mankini. The skin’s exaggerated “jiggle physics” are also being highlighted as a major part of the appeal.

An official description for the swimsuit skin repeats the same joke: “The beach crew voted Captain America should man the grill,” comparing him to the “red, white, and blue-blooded specimen of American masculinity” people associate with him. It then adds that his grill skills “were not nearly as calculated as his shield throws.”

Captain America’s bulk in the new look has also sparked comparisons to that infamous Rob Liefeld illustration, leading some players to wonder whether the circulating images and clips were made from a fan mod. There’s no need to assume that, though—this outfit and everything included with it are confirmed as legitimate, and it’s available for purchase through the Marvel Rivals store.

Whether you’re on the same side or the opposing team, it’s hard to imagine staying focused if someone shows up in Seaside Sentinel. Social media reactions have already made that concern feel justified, with players reacting to the sheer presence of the new look.

“Bro Steve stole Thor’s hammer,” one Reddit user wrote.

“Literally America’s ass,” another added, “that’s my goat.”

“F**king finally,” an X/Twitter user chimed in.

Even with NetEase maintaining that it doesn’t intentionally make “gooner content” for its heroes and villains, Marvel Rivals players have continued to point out how often the game leans into revealing outfit designs. With more swimwear joining the collection, Captain America appears to be getting his turn in that spotlight—at least for this holiday window.

Marvel Rivals is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S. Alongside Captain America’s swimsuit, other heroes who received swimwear include Daredevil and Black Widow.
