Mario Kart World Version 1.7.0 Adds New Knockout Tour Routes and Photo Stickers
Nintendo has rolled out version 1.7.0 for Mario Kart World, bringing two fresh Knockout Tour routes alongside a handful of smaller fixes. The update also adds a new photo-mode feature: stickers can now be applied to pictures you take in-game.
The first new rally, Drill Rally, links Wario Shipyard with Bowser’s Castle. The second, Boomerang Rally, connects Salty Salty Speedway to Whistletop Summit.
Quick facts
- Version 1.7.0 adds Drill Rally to Knockout Tour (Wario Shipyard ↔ Bowser’s Castle).
- Version 1.7.0 adds Boomerang Rally to Knockout Tour (Salty Salty Speedway ↔ Whistletop Summit).
- You can now attach stickers to photos taken in the in-game Photo Mode.
- Photo Mode stickers can be placed using touch controls or mouse controls as well.
- The update includes multiple gameplay and performance tweaks plus a larger set of fixed issues.
- It also adds Thai language support via System Settings > System > Language.
Mario Kart World launched on Nintendo Switch 2 a little over a year ago, and it was positioned as one of the system’s biggest exclusives. Despite that early push for Switch 2 owners, Nintendo hadn’t added major new content updates until now.
Even with these new rallies and the sticker photo feature, many players still feel the update falls short of the one change they’ve wanted most: brand-new full tracks. Still, the additions provide at least some signal that more content could follow.
Switch 2 may have made a bit of Mario history, but it’s not the sort of milestone fans are likely to celebrate for long if the game’s track roster stays put.
Mario Kart World’s 1.7.0 Update Has Some Hope For Future Content
It’s easy to see why some players are underwhelmed by the pace. Mario Kart 8 managed to deliver eight new courses in roughly five months, while Mario Kart World has been live for over a year and has largely been limited to smaller additions—until this point, when Nintendo finally brings more Knockout Tour content.
After installing version 1.7.0, players can open the Knockout Tour menu to find the two new rallies placed on a new right-side screen. That screen now shows six question marks, suggesting the game may be set to receive at least six additional Knockout Tour rallies in the future.
Does that mean brand-new courses are coming soon? Nobody can say for sure, but the update does strengthen the idea that Nintendo will keep adding something to Mario Kart World, even if it’s not the kind of expansion many fans are waiting for.
