Love and Deepspace Petition Hits 160K to Save Valko After Player Backlash
The Love and Deepspace community has been anything but calm lately. The game’s newest romantic option, Valko, sparked a notably split reaction when he was announced—especially among players on the CN server, where some users reportedly disliked his visual design and how his character was presented. At the same time, a separate wave of criticism focused less on Valko himself and more on timing: others felt the game was adding another love interest while still failing to deliver enough content for the rest of the roster.
What no one expected was how abruptly the situation would change. Even with a full character package already prepared—complete with a design, cinematic materials, and voice work recorded for multiple regions—Infold has now said Valko will not be arriving in Love and Deepspace. The company’s stance goes further than a simple delay: there are currently no plans for any additional love interests in the future.
That decision has ignited a backlash. Fans are pushing back in multiple ways, including reaching out to Infold directly and calling for the company to restart Valko’s development. Petitions have also appeared across various websites, and at least one has gathered major traction—surpassing 160,000 signatures and continuing to climb.
Why the “scrapped character” drama is hitting harder than a normal backlash
In most live-service games, negative feedback tends to result in tweaks, rebalancing, or adjustments to future plans. Here, the reaction is being framed as something more extreme: a character that was apparently close to release has been removed entirely, and the future pipeline for new love interests has been shut off. That mismatch between what players expected (iterations and improvements) and what Infold delivered (a hard stop) is likely why the community response has escalated so quickly.
- Valko reportedly had a complete foundation already prepared, including design, cinematics, and multi-region voice work.
- Infold’s message indicates no future love-interest additions, turning a single character controversy into a broader content concern.
- Players who wanted more overall content, not just new additions, see the decision as proof the game’s direction is stalled.
Petitions show the fight isn’t just “internet noise”
The strongest campaign is an iPetition page titled “Bring back Valko as a love interest as it was intended.” As of the time of writing, it has 161,795 signatures and is targeting 250,000. There’s also a Change.org petition on the same issue, currently at 72,131 verified signatures.
Supporters on the Change.org page argue that Valko’s cancellation makes the game’s long-term growth harder to justify. One supporter put it bluntly, saying it’s “absolutely awful” that Infold backed out of a plan that was supposedly always intended to add another love interest, and questioning how the game can keep going if it stays “stagnant.”
Another message calls the decision unfair, claiming Infold “cancelled Valko” by responding to “toxic fans” who, in that supporter’s view, never gave him a chance. The argument continues that even if Valko wasn’t “their type” or wasn’t the priority for every player, those fans could have been ignored—especially if other segments of the community genuinely wanted him.
Interest in the petitions has gone beyond dedicated fandom spaces as well. Change.org itself has reportedly highlighted how quickly fans have been able to mobilise, suggesting the campaign is gaining attention in broader online circles.
Can Infold reverse course, or is Valko effectively gone?
For now, fans are mostly hoping the door isn’t fully closed. The thinking goes like this: if Infold can pull the plug on a character with such a near-finished status, then it might also be able to reverse the decision and reintroduce him. Still, there’s no confirmed detail on what’s happening internally, and multiple theories have been circulating about why this outcome occurred in the first place.
As of the time of writing, though, Valko is no more—at least based on the information currently being shared with players.
