Where to Find the Plate Armor of the Shadows Set in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert players chasing a sleek, dark look now have a clearer path to the Plate Armor of the Shadows Set, a high-defense collection known for standout Abyss Gear effects like faster climbing, extra skill experience, and Petrification protection. This guide breaks down where every piece is hidden or earned, plus how to reach each treasure chest.

Checklists: What the Plate Armor of the Shadows Set Does

Visually similar to the Frostcursed Armor Set, the Plate Armor of the Shadows Set is one of the most requested armor sets in Crimson Desert thanks to its cool, gloomy aesthetic. Beyond appearance, it’s built for defense and includes Abyss Gear bonuses with meaningful combat and mobility benefits.

Key Abyss Gear features tied to the set include increased climbing speed, +10% skill EXP gain, and Petrification Immunity. The Plate Cloak of the Shadows also grants Level 7 Fire Resistance.

This guide covers how to obtain every piece in the Plate Armor of the Shadows armor set.

Plate Armor of the Shadows Armor Set Location

The Plate Armor of the Shadows Set is made up of five armor pieces. Collecting the full set requires tracking down each item:

  • Plate Helm of the Shadows
  • Plate Boots of the Shadows
  • Plate Gloves of the Shadows
  • Plate Cloak of the Shadows
  • Plate Armor of the Shadows

How to Get Each Piece

Plate Helm of the Shadows

The Plate Helm of the Shadows is earned by defeating one of Crimson Desert’s toughest bosses: Beloth, the Darksworn. You’ll find Beloth in the Hoenmark Ruins, an icy ruin area located north of the letter “H” in Hernand.

Frostclaw Cave Treasure Chest (Plate Boots of the Shadows)

  • Reward: Plate Boots of the Shadows

A Treasure Chest is hidden inside a waterfall cave called Frostclaw Cave. To reach it, head upstream through a long, winding stretch of water, crossing western Hernand and continuing toward the boundary of Everfrost. Keep going through the Duskwood, passing Fort Warspike and the Sanctum of Benediction as you move along the route.

Near the edge of the open-world boundary, look for a very large waterfall. At its base there’s a stack of rocks, which is your hint that a secret entrance sits just beyond the falls. Enter by using the Stab technique at the correct angle (RB/R1 + Y/Triangle). Once inside, you’ll find a small treasure-filled cave. Among the loot is the Plate Boots of the Shadows, which offers Abyss Gear bonuses including increased Skill XP Gain and Increased Climb Speed.

Everfrost Cave Treasure Chest (Plate Gloves of the Shadows)

  • Reward: Plate Gloves of the Shadows

This Treasure Chest is tucked away in a hidden location known as Everfrost Cave, featuring a distinctive ice cavern layout. The cave is difficult to spot because it’s set into the mountains south above the long river that runs through western Hernand toward the edge of the open world.

The simplest way to find it is to start at Frostclaw Cave, where you already can grab another piece of the Shadows set. From there, climb up and head south along the world’s edge (you may receive prompts to turn back, so stay just within the boundary). Then scan the high mountain ridges for an icy opening aimed toward the northeast.

Inside, slide down through the ice interior to reach a small cave packed with treasures. The chest contains the Plate Gloves of the Shadows, which provides Abyss Gear bonuses including both increased Swim Speed and Climb Speed.

Hoenmark Ruins Treasure Chest (Plate Cloak of the Shadows)

  • Reward: Plate Cloak of the Shadows

A Treasure Chest can be found in the large Hoenmark Ruins on the western side of Central Hernand. The ruins sit about halfway between Hernand City and the province of Calphade. Geographically, they’re placed in a wide basin far to the west of Icemoor Castle Ruins, and they lie below the long river that flows west from Deepfog Basin.

Because of the danger in the area, the guide recommends avoiding Beloth and the eastern approach through the basin, since that route is guarded by what it describes as near-endless flying wraiths. Instead, head up the far western mountains to an unmarked beacon guarded by Black Bears, which provides a viewpoint over the ruins to the east.

When you descend into the blizzard, aim for the nearest big square ruin on the western side, staying well away from the center where Beloth is waiting. Scan the top of the stone building for a smaller square section that looks different. Then crouch and use Force Palm on the floor to reveal a trapdoor. Inside you’ll find the Plate Cloak of Shadows, noted for offering a huge amount of Fire Resistance.

Everfrost Watchtower Treasure Chest (Plate Armor of the Shadows + Palmar Pill)

  • Reward: Plate Armor of the Shadows, Palmar Pill

This Treasure Chest is located just outside the Everfrost Watchtower, a defensive installation high on the northwestern side of Hernand and positioned due southwest of the province of Calphade. To get there, travel up the river that leads west from Deepfog Basin, then go north away from Hoenmark Ruins.

The Everfrost Watchtower is heavily guarded by Blackbears and is built with multiple levels of towers and installations. Make your way up to the highest tier. On the top ledge, walk south along the cliffs until you find a small alcove with a sealed gate. Opening it is simple: light the stone brazier beside the gate. Inside, the chest contains the Plate Armor of the Shadows, which grants Petrification immunity, increased Defense, and Stamina Regen.
