Tyro Captain Mission Guide: Get Edward’s Holster and Upgrade the Jackdaw
This Tyro Captain episode marks the eighth mission in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. With your Quatermaster in place and the Jackdaw finally ready to sail, Edward Kenway has more freedom than ever—but his priorities are split. Edward is focused on getting a new holster, while Adewale wants to improve the ship. To make that happen, you’ll need a qualified Shipwright, which sends you to Abaco Island. This guide walks you through every step required to finish the mission, along with suggestions for collecting items along the way.
Checklists
This Tyro Captain is the eighth mission in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Now that you have a Quatermaster and the Jackdaw, the world has opened up for you and Edward Kenway. While Edward is concerned about getting himself a new holster, Adewale wants to upgrade the ship. And for that, you need a proper Shipwright, so it’s off to Abaco Island. This walkthrough details everything you need to do to complete the eighth mission, with suggestions of Collectibles to pick up along the way.
Sail to Abaco Island
If you’d rather not handle navigation yourself, you can enable Pathfinder. Hold up on the D-Pad and press Triangle/Y to have the game chart a course straight to your objective. If you decide you want to explore or stop somewhere else first, you can cancel Pathfinder at any time.
Once you arrive at Abaco Island, drop anchor. From there, use a rope to climb down and jump into the water below.
Before you push forward with the mission, it’s smart to head directly to the Viewpoint and synchronize. Abaco Island is compact, and there’s only a single Viewpoint you need to take care of.
When you’re ready to continue the mission, make your way to the camp—this is where you’ll see that something is wrong and trouble has already arrived.
You’ll need to investigate:
Clues point to the local Ocelots as the cause. Use your vision tools to track them, then follow their trail heading east.
Eliminate the Ocelots and skin them. Their pelts will be useful for Edward’s holster goal. Open the menu and select Crafting (the small anvil located at the bottom of Edward’s inventory). With the 2x Ocelot Pelt you’ll be able to craft a Pistol Holster.
After you’re finished—either by skinning additional animals or by grabbing everything you can from the island—return to the ship to wrap up the mission. Talk to Adewale, and he’ll hand you another Pistol to store in your newly made holster.
Tip!
Abaco Island is a strong spot for earning the Owned trophy because it’s one of the first smaller areas where you can complete everything relatively quickly. Keys aren’t required to complete all activities, but collecting them can unlock extra content. Viewpoints, Chests, Secrets, and Animals all count toward 100% completion of the area.
