Terraria Update 1.4.5.7 Brings New Gear and Combat Improvements
Terraria’s next big tune-up has arrived, with Re-Logic rolling out update 1.4.5.7 for the popular sandbox action-RPG. Framed as a “final” refinement to the much larger 1.4.5 release that launched in January, this patch focuses on new gear, combat system improvements, and a variety of quality-of-life and stability changes—while also keeping the long-term roadmap in view.
The headline additions are a set of 36 new items, expanding the game’s already wide catalog of gear and build options. But the most significant gameplay shifts land in combat mechanics. Re-Logic redesigned certain equipment types—specifically gem-based wands and gem-based cloaks—so that each wand variant now fires with a unique shot effect. The matching cloak doesn’t just complement the wand visually or thematically; it also grants an additional unique effect tied to the wand itself. As an extra incentive for pairing the right gear, creating an appropriate combination of the wand and cloak provides a further damage bonus.
Beyond weapon and accessory changes, the update also includes adjustments requested by long-time Terraria players regarding how the game handles jojo usage. NPC behavior has also been improved, aiming to make non-player characters act more reliably in day-to-day play. For players who chase hidden content, the patch adds two new secret seeds, giving world-generation seekers new reasons to start fresh.
As with most late-cycle updates, 1.4.5.7 isn’t only about additions—it also contains bug fixes and balance improvements. The notes call out fixes and tuning related to mana usage, and to how certain seeds function compared to what was available earlier.
PC first, with consoles and mobile coming later
At launch, update 1.4.5.7 is available only on PC. Re-Logic has stated that it’s coming to consoles and mobile devices in the near future, bringing the full package of item additions, combat revisions, and seed changes to more players outside the desktop ecosystem.
What this patch means for Terraria’s future
Re-Logic also positioned 1.4.5.7 as a concluding step for the 1.4.5 era, but development is far from winding down. The studio has previously shared that it has plans stretching another 15 years for Terraria, suggesting this update is part of a longer commitment rather than a true end to new content.
