Terranigma Returns: Quintet RPG Reboot Set for PC, Consoles in Early 2027
More than three decades after its original release, Terranigma is finally returning to modern gaming platforms. The action RPG from Quintet, revived by Clear River Games, is set to launch in early 2027 across PC and multiple consoles—with Steam and GOG support on PC—and a physical edition planned for collectors.
Early 2027 rollout across PC and consoles
The re-release of Terranigma is scheduled for the beginning of 2027. Clear River Games’ remake-style revival will be available on:
- PC
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S
- Nintendo Switch
- Nintendo Switch 2
On PC, players can purchase the game through Steam and GOG. In addition to digital availability, a boxed, physical release is also planned.
A long-missing official PC release
Terranigma originally debuted exclusively on the Super Nintendo. Since then, it has not received an official re-release. The new version also marks the first time it will be released officially for PC.
- Original platform: Super Nintendo only
- No official re-release in the years since
- Not previously available in North America
- First official PC release in this new version
What’s staying faithful—and what’s changing
The story from the original is intended to remain in place, with Ark once again serving as the central protagonist. The game’s mix of real-time combat and exploration is also described as part of what will carry over.
Visually, the update aims to preserve the feel of the original by continuing to use the distinctive pixel art style. The melancholic soundtrack will also be included.
Clear River Games adds “bonus” content
Alongside fidelity to the classic, Clear River Games says the new release will include improvements, adjustments, and additional bonus content. The full scope of these changes has not been fully detailed yet.
- Improvements and adjustments planned
- Additional bonus content included
- Exact details on how extensive the changes are: not fully confirmed yet
Kamui Fujiwara returns with new artwork and designs
Former character designer Kamui Fujiwara is involved again. He is contributing new key artwork and in-game designs, and is supporting production as the project returns to contemporary platforms.
Developer comments and confirmed PC features
Fujiwara addressed the comeback directly, noting that Terranigma originally launched on the SNES 30 years ago—and that it will now be available again on both console and PC, in both digital and physical forms.
He also tempered expectations about a one-to-one recreation, saying the new edition may not be exactly the same as it was back then, while expressing excitement about seeing it return to today’s gaming scene.
- PC version supports German language
- Steam achievements are confirmed
- Steam Cloud is confirmed
- Precise release date not announced; only early 2027 is currently listed
