Star Fox Reveals a Choice-Linked Second Ending After the Final Campaign

Star Fox has a pair of endings, and if you finish the campaign the “easy” way, you might miss what the game is clearly setting up for—an additional final confrontation that’s tied to your choices on the road to Venom.

Star Fox: two endings

Star Fox—covering both the 2026 release and the original Nintendo 64 game it draws from—features multiple ending outcomes. Because the campaign branches, some players can complete Star Fox and assume they’ve wrapped up the story of Andross, only to notice the “easy route” finale suggests there’s more waiting.

How the endings are decided

Checklists

The ending you get is determined by the specific path you take leading into the last fight on the planet Venom. In other words, it isn’t just about reaching the final battle—it’s about how you arrive there.

Task Search

On the easy route, several different mission outcomes bring you to Venom, but they don’t bring you to the “real” endgame version of the planet’s showdown. These routes include landing on Venom after a “Mission Complete” result tied to the easy path that goes through Bolse, including the easy route via either Sector Z or the middle through Macbeth. It also includes the “Mission Accomplished” path from Titania, which again leads you to Venom.

That entry locks you into a sequence that takes you over Venom’s surface to a version of Andross that isn’t the genuine article. If you beat this easy version of Andross, the game follows up with a short fight against a robotic skull—an outcome that makes it clear you’ve been battling a decoy the whole time. This easy Venom battle is often referred to as “Venom 1.”

To reach the true ending, you must take the real route and land on Venom 2. Getting to Venom 2 requires meeting one of two conditions: flip all switches on Macbeth, or keep the Great Fox from taking damage on Sector Z. Either way, the game places you into a “Mission Accomplished” scenario. From there, the next destination becomes Area 6, which is the only stop that will directly route you into Venom 2.

Once you’re on Venom 2, the setup changes. Instead of continuing with the flight over the planet, the final stretch pivots into a fight against Star Wolf. After you defeat them, the battle transitions into a direct confrontation with the real Andross—the central “brain” tied to the war across the Lylat System. Defeat Andross to earn the true ending.
