Real Madrid Monitor Liverpool Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister
Real Madrid are monitoring Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, with the Argentina international viewed as a possible target for a later transfer window. Liverpool, meanwhile, have identified a group of central midfielders as they assess longer-term options in the position.
Quick facts
- Mac Allister, 27, is tied to Liverpool until 2028 and Madrid are tracking his situation.
- Liverpool regard Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha highly, while Lamine Camara and Alex Scott are also on their midfield list.
- Arsenal are watching Monza forward Gustavo Varela after seven Serie A goals in eight matches.
- Manchester United retain an interest in Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall, whose contract runs to 2031.
- Bayern Munich are among the clubs following 17-year-old Borussia Mönchengladbach prospect Wael Mohya.
José Mourinho is said to be a supporter of a move for Mac Allister, valuing the midfielder’s physicality and ability in duels. There is no firm plan for Liverpool to offer a new contract at present, but the Anfield club would be expected to fight to keep a key member of their side.
Nmecha is not currently Liverpool’s leading midfield priority, though interest could develop as the club plan future recruitment. The 26-year-old joined Dortmund from Wolfsburg in 2023 and has a deal in place through June 2030.
Monaco’s Camara and Bournemouth’s Scott are also being considered by Liverpool. Both midfielders have been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United in recent months.
Arsenal have joined Napoli and Benfica in following Varela, the 21-year-old Portuguese striker making a rapid impact at Monza. Napoli could act in January in an attempt to move ahead of their rivals, while Benfica can equal any future bid and will receive 20% of the profit from his next sale.
United could revisit their pursuit of Hall next summer, although Newcastle have no intention of sanctioning a January exit. The 22-year-old recently committed to a contract until 2031, is understood to be settled at St James’ Park, and could command more than £70 million; he has not entirely dismissed a possible Old Trafford move later in his career.
Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are keeping tabs on Mohya, with clubs outside Germany also interested. A move during the winter window is not anticipated, and Gladbach want to renew the teenager’s existing 2028 agreement with a release clause included.
Mohya’s future beyond next summer may depend on Gladbach’s Bundesliga status. The club believe retaining him would only be realistic if they avoid relegation.
Further market developments
Roma are considering Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens as a winter option and also remain interested in Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling. Roma came close to arranging a move for Leweling during the summer.
Arsenal are among a number of teams scouting Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi. Barcelona also explored a possible move for the 22-year-old in the summer.
Paris Saint-Germain are assessing a January bid for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Ibrahim Maza. Leverkusen are attempting to secure the player on a fresh long-term contract.
Crystal Palace are reluctant to sell Ismaïla Sarr in January after beginning discussions over a new deal with the Senegal winger. Sarr had wanted to join Liverpool in the summer.
Liverpool are also watching Leeds defender Tarik Muharemović, who has attracted interest from Inter, Barcelona, Bayern and Dortmund. Manchester United and Chelsea are tracking Twente teenager Ruud Nijstad.
Ajax want to sign Wolves forward Tolu Arokodare permanently. In managerial developments, Manchester United would reportedly need to pay Newcastle £6 million in compensation should they appoint Eddie Howe under the terms linked to his St James’ Park departure.
Christian Pulisic is close to agreeing a new AC Milan contract. Juventus and Roma are monitoring Genoa midfielder Samuel Wiafe as he continues his development.
