Beraldo’s penalty gave PSG the early advantage, but Mafouta brought Le Mans back into the match nine minutes after the interval. The visitors’ equaliser created a testing spell for the home side, who eventually reasserted themselves after the hour.
Fabian Ruiz, introduced from the bench, drove a powerful effort towards goal that was pushed into Kvaratskhelia’s path. The fellow substitute converted the rebound to put PSG back in front. Akliouche then struck seven minutes later, giving the scoreline a more comfortable appearance and confirming another domestic victory.
Luis Enrique praised Le Mans for the approach they took in Paris, while recognising that PSG had been forced to show resolve after conceding.
“It was close to an ideal result,” he said. “We allowed a goal and that made things difficult. We knew there would be difficult moments, but the team showed courage and controlled the game.”
The PSG coach added that Le Mans deserved credit for their willingness to play positively. He described the promoted side as courageous and said matches against opponents with that attitude could be demanding but enjoyable.
The three points matter in PSG’s pursuit of the teams above them in the league standings. Luis Enrique said his players must continue collecting wins if they are to move closer to the summit.
Attention now turns to the Champions League, with PSG preparing for an away tie against English opposition. Luis Enrique said his squad welcomes the return of European football, while accepting that the next assignment will be a difficult one on the road.
