Akliouche Scores First PSG Goal in 3-1 Win Over Le Mans
Maghnes Akliouche opened his Paris Saint-Germain account with a decisive second-half goal as Luis Enrique’s side beat promoted Le Mans 3-1 at the Parc des Princes. The 24-year-old midfielder struck in the 68th minute to help PSG secure a fourth straight win in all competitions and move provisionally into fifth place in Ligue 1.
A first PSG goal after the break
PSG had been made to work for their result on Saturday evening, particularly in their first match after the international break. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia put the home side back in front early in the second half before Akliouche gave the champions greater control with his first goal in Paris colours.
Akliouche’s effort arrived with 22 minutes remaining and established a two-goal advantage against the newly promoted visitors. PSG went on to complete a 3-1 victory at home.
- Result: Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 Le Mans
- Venue: Parc des Princes
- Akliouche goal: 68th minute
- PSG run: four consecutive wins in all competitions
- League position: provisionally fifth in Ligue 1
Akliouche explains instinctive finish
The midfielder said the breakthrough mattered greatly after arriving at the club, with the goal providing a personal landmark in front of the Paris support.
“Getting my first goal for Paris Saint-Germain was important,” Akliouche said. “I hope it is the first of many, because that is what I want.”
He described reacting naturally during the attack, explaining that he attracted a defender before noticing room ahead of him and choosing to shoot. The 24-year-old said it was especially pleasing to finally register his first PSG goal.
Importance of a winning return
Akliouche also underlined the value of taking maximum points immediately after the international window, when club sides can often struggle to regain their rhythm.
“We know matches after an international break are not always straightforward, and this one could have been difficult,” he said. “We are pleased to have taken the three points. Starting again with a win was important.”
European trip next for PSG
Attention now turns quickly to a demanding sequence of domestic and European fixtures. Akliouche said the squad had already begun looking ahead to the major matches on the calendar.
PSG’s next assignment is a midweek Champions League away match against English opposition, as Luis Enrique’s team seek to carry their current winning run into Europe.
