If you’re playing with other people, be ready to move immediately when you spot a Mega Seed. Grabbing it quickly helps ensure you don’t miss out on the limited drop. After planting a Mega Seed, it appears that the seed can grow into a range of plant types—and may even produce a larger variant of what it becomes.
Because the Mega Moon is tied to a very low chance of occurring, you’ll need to get lucky and have it happen while you’re actively playing.
