Magic Makeover Quest Guide: Unlock Kuromi’s Boutique in City Town

“Magic Makeover” is the last Quest you’ll need to unlock Kuromi’s Boutique in the City Town area of Hello Kitty Island Adventure. The mission becomes available right after you finish “Once More With Feeling.” It also slots in after the earlier steps: “Cake-tastrophe,” “Boutique Blues,” and “The Big Boutique Reveal,”.

In this Quest, you’ll learn how to use Kuromi’s Boutique to build custom Avatar Palettes—and yes, Flowers are the key ingredient. To start, go talk to Kuromi, who will be either inside her shop (on the rooftop of City Town beside the Theater) or standing just outside it.

  • Primary goal: make custom Avatar Palettes using Flowers

Checklists

Before you go any further, you’ll want to know what the Quest is asking you to do. The checklist includes creating your first palette, then making a tinted version, followed by collecting the Quest rewards.

Make Your First Avatar Palette

After you speak with Kuromi, if you find her outside the Boutique, head inside to continue. For the process, you should bring at least 10 Flowers of the same color, plus at least 5 Black or White Flowers—the shop’s crafting setup depends on those materials.

If you’re short on Flowers, you can grab them in all areas of Merry Meadows, and you can also find them in Flowerbeds scattered around the world. For a deeper look at what Flowers exist and which colors are available, check the full Flowers guide.

Talk to Kuromi inside her Boutique. She explains that the store is where you’ll craft your own Avatar Palettes, and the way to do it is by using the large black mirror inside the shop.

To begin crafting, interact with the mirror, then select a palette you already own. Avatar Palettes are typically unlocked by raising Friendship with various characters in the game. From there, you can customize one color, two colors, or all three colors—but for your first run through this Quest, you only need to change one color to move forward.

Once you’ve picked the color you want to adjust, select 10 flowers from your inventory. Those 10 Flowers all must match—you can’t mix colors within the same adjustment. You also need to use solid-colored flowers; Flowers with patterns or special effects won’t work for this step.

The game will then shift the chosen palette color to match the Flower shade you used. With roughly 30 different Flower colors currently available in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you’ve got plenty of options to experiment.

Make a Tinted Avatar Palette

When you finish your first Palette, talk to Kuromi again. She’ll tell you it’s time to create a tinted Avatar Palette, which is the Boutique’s second function.

For a tinted palette, you’ll follow the same mirror flow: interact with the mirror, select a palette, and then choose one or more colors to change, along with the specific Flowers you want to use to alter that color.

Next, you’ll pick one of the following Flower combinations:

  • 5 White Flowers — Lightens the color by one shade
  • 10 White Flowers — Lightens the color by two shades
  • 5 Black Flowers — Darkens the color by one shade
  • 10 Black Flowers — Darkens the color by two shades

White Flowers are available right away once you unlock the Merry Meadows region, but Black Flowers don’t spawn until you complete a set of Quests. If you’re trying to get Black Flowers for this step, you’ll want to use the How to Breed Black Flowers guide.

After you create the tinted Avatar Palette, talk to Kuromi once more. She confirms that her Boutique is now officially open and hands you the Kuromi’s Boutique Poster, so you can advertise the new store across Friendship Island.
