Kompany Denies Bayern Board Rift Over Transfers and Updates on Musiala

Vincent Kompany has dismissed suggestions of a disagreement with Bayern Munich’s board over the club’s summer business, insisting there was no internal dispute about further signings before the new season. The Bayern coach addressed the matter before the Bundesliga trip to Schalke, while also offering an encouraging update on Jamal Musiala’s recovery after the midfielder’s on-pitch collapse.

Bayern have added Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven and Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt in deals worth a combined €100 million. Both arrivals are expected to have significant roles in Kompany’s plans.

Speculation had claimed that Kompany, 40, wanted a third high-profile recruit and held an extended discussion with the Bayern hierarchy after becoming unhappy with the window. Kompany rejected that account in unusually direct terms, saying the claim appeared to have been “pulled out of the AI cloud”.

He stressed that discussions behind closed doors should remain private, but said it was unreasonable to be questioned over a story he considered invented.

Sporting director Christoph Freund backed the manager’s version, saying Bayern’s coaching and recruitment departments had remained aligned throughout the summer. Freund said he and Kompany had spoken every day, but that no conversation about the alleged demand for another major transfer had taken place.

Bayern’s decision to use younger players to occupy the final places in the first-team group was presented as a joint choice reached during squad planning, rather than a compromise imposed on the coach.
