Juventus weigh a major Serie A opportunity

A direct switch from Inter to Juventus would be a significant Serie A development, particularly given Calhanoglu’s standing at San Siro. Juventus are looking at longer-term midfield options and believe his experience, distribution and ability to dictate play could strengthen Luciano Spalletti’s group.

Spalletti has regularly used Douglas Luiz alongside Pape Matar Sarr in midfield, but neither is naturally a deep-lying organiser in the mould of a traditional regista. Calhanoglu has developed into one of Europe’s leading players in that position during his Inter spell, combining control in possession with a wide passing range and creative vision from deeper areas.

The proposed pursuit would nevertheless bring clear concerns. Calhanoglu will turn 33 in February, while his fitness record has become a growing issue for Inter.
