Fable PC Hardware Requirements Revealed by Playground Games Ahead of 2027 Launch
Playground Games has been building momentum for Fable even as there’s still a sizable wait until it lands in February 2027. The studio has now shared concrete details that point to a near-final state of planning: detailed PC hardware requirements and a confirmed breakdown of how long the RPG will take to play depending on what you focus on.
PC requirements: what you need to run Fable
The system specs were posted by Playground Games via its social channels, with the lineup broken down by target performance tiers. The range stretches from 1080p at 30 frames per second up to 4K at 60 frames per second, and each tier specifies the intended Windows version, CPU, memory, graphics card, VRAM, and storage type.
Minimum targets 1080p / 30 FPS and calls for Windows 10 22H2, an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i7-6850K CPU, 12 GB of RAM, and a graphics card such as NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050, RTX 2060, AMD Radeon RX 6600, or Intel Arc A580. The minimum VRAM requirement is 6 GB, and the game needs an SSD.
Recommended specs are for either 1440p / 30 FPS or 1200p / 60 FPS. That configuration also uses Windows 10 22H2 and steps up to an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or Intel Core i5-11600K CPU, with 16 GB of RAM. The GPU options listed include NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, RTX 3060 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT, or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, paired with 8 GB of VRAM and SSD storage.
For higher performance at 1440p / 60 FPS, Playground Games lists Windows 10 22H2 again, alongside an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X or Intel Core i7-12700K CPU and 16 GB of RAM. The graphics card range expands to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, RTX 3080 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 9070, or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT, with 12 GB of VRAM and SSD storage.
The ultra tier targets 4K / 60 FPS and remains on Windows 10 22H2. The specified CPUs are AMD Ryzen 9 7900X or Intel Core i9-13900K, along with 16 GB of RAM. On the GPU side, the list includes NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, with 16 GB of VRAM and an SSD requirement.
How long Fable will take to beat
Alongside performance targets, Playground also addressed one of the biggest RPG questions: how long the main story lasts. Will Kennedy, the game’s director, confirmed that Fable is expected to run for 15 to 20 hours if you focus only on the story.
In the same breakdown, the director estimated that additional activities—secondary content and exploration—can add another 15 to 20 hours. Taken together, that places a full completion pass at roughly 30 to 40 hours, depending on how much side content you pursue and how thoroughly you explore the map.
The studio’s numbers will likely land differently for players depending on what they consider “done.” The message is clear, though: even with a map worth exploring, the pacing is being framed around a 30–40 hour overall experience rather than an open-ended, 100-hour RPG structure.
