Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Adds Whis-Dressed Super Saiyan Goku and Vegeta

Nearly a decade after its launch, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has finally expanded its wardrobe with a long-requested option: Super Saiyan versions for Goku and Vegeta while wearing their Whis outfits, arriving as part of the game’s last major update.

With close to ten years of post-launch support, Xenoverse 2 has amassed an enormous amount of playable content—yet, like most long-running live games, it still missed certain characters, transformations, techniques, and costumes along the way.

A clear case involves Goku and Vegeta’s signature Whis gis from Dragon Ball Super: Resurrection F. In Xenoverse 2, those outfits are indeed present, both as wearable costumes for Time Patrollers and as outfit options for the two fighters themselves—but they came with some oddly restrictive rules. Those limitations have now been lifted in the game’s most recent update, which quietly introduced a new selection for the partner versions of Goku and Vegeta.

Xenoverse 2’s Goku And Vegeta Can Finally Go Super Saiyan In Their Whis Outfits

And It Only Took Nine And A Bit Years

One of the more frustrating design quirks in Xenoverse 2 is how tightly character variants can be bound to specific moves and forms depending on the outfit you equip. Goku and Vegeta are a prime example, since some of their variants simply don’t include the transformation most players would expect.

The Whis gis highlight the issue perfectly. When Goku or Vegeta wear these outfits, they can’t switch into Super Saiyan—because the forms don’t appear that way in the source material, and because Xenoverse enforces the restriction. As was pointed out by a community member on Reddit named NickolaConagher, that long-standing limitation has now been changed.

The update adds new “special costumes” designed for custom characters, and those special costume sets include the Whis gis for both Goku and Vegeta. Because these are built for customization, players can determine which transformation the characters can use while wearing them.

In a separate post on social media, NickolaConagher demonstrated both characters using Super Saiyan while outfitted in the Whis gear, effectively confirming that one of Xenoverse 2’s strangest edge-case restrictions has finally been addressed.

The wait for this specific fix is especially noticeable when you compare it to a similar delay with Vegeta’s Cell Saga armor, which only arrived in the game last year as part of the Daima DLC.

I recently had a hands-off preview of Xenoverse 3, and it’s already looking like a massive step forward for the series.
