Cyberpunk 2077 Returns to Steam Charts With Record Concurrent Players
Cyberpunk 2077 is climbing back up the Steam charts, hitting a fresh high in concurrent players as more people return to Night City. At the end of June 2026, the game surpassed 87,000 players on Valve’s platform, and a recent Steam sale may be one of the biggest drivers behind the renewed interest.
Release window and current Steam availability
| Item | Timing / availability | Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Cyberpunk 2077 player peak | Final weekend of June 2026 | Steam (PC) |
| Steam sale discount | Ends June 25 (sale window mentioned in report) | Steam (PC) |
| Freebie offer | Limited time to claim three freebies “right now” | Steam (PC) |
The original launch of Cyberpunk 2077 back in 2020 is still remembered as one of the most controversial arrivals in modern gaming. Over time, though, the game’s ongoing updates and expansion work helped it mature into a standout open-world RPG. CD Projekt Red has also focused on rebuilding trust through performance improvements, additional content, and a widely praised anime adaptation, all of which have contributed to its long-term reputation.
At the moment, Steam players are also dealing with a separate pull: the platform is offering three freebies that are only available for a limited window.
Cyberpunk 2077 Reaches Its Highest Steam Count in More Than Two Years
Recent Steam concurrency tracking shows Cyberpunk 2077 hitting 87,025 players at the peak over the final weekend of June 2026. That’s the highest Steam figure the RPG has posted since December 2023, when it crossed 88,000 concurrent players a few months after Phantom Liberty launched. For context, the game’s typical monthly Steam audience sits roughly between 20,000 and 30,000, so landing at that 87,000 level in just a short stretch is a significant surge for the title.
One plausible contributor is the game’s latest Steam promotion running until June 25. During the sale, the base game was discounted by 70%, dropping the price to $17.99—the steepest cut the title has seen so far. The Phantom Liberty bundle was also reduced by 60%, priced at $33.10.
Another reason the game may be getting a new wave of attention is the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The follow-up season for the spin-off anime was recently confirmed for a Fall 2026 release. When the first season debuted in September 2022, Cyberpunk 2077 jumped to a Steam peak of more than 136,000 concurrent players. Likewise, when the sequel was announced in July 2025, the game reportedly gained an additional 66,000 concurrent players. If that pattern repeats, it’s reasonable to expect another chart boost once Edgerunners 2 arrives.
CD Projekt Red has also kept the broader Cyberpunk brand active with additional releases and crossovers in recent months. In April, the official Cyberpunk TCG campaign broke a Kickstarter record for the most crowdfunded game project in history. In March, the studio unveiled an arcade title called Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush. More recently, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners expanded into Kuro Games’ gacha title Wuthering Waves, adding characters Lucy and Rebecca as playable units. All of these moves help keep the franchise in rotation, which can translate into more players returning to Night City.

While a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has been confirmed as a project CD Projekt Red is working on, there may be a long wait before players see anything concrete. The studio has also stated that no new DLC is currently planned for Cyberpunk 2077. On top of that, CD Projekt Red is prioritizing development on The Witcher 4 and a separate new property that’s currently referred to as Project Hadar.
