Crimson Desert Developer Talks Possible Switch 2 Port, Says It’s Still Early

Crimson Desert may eventually reach Nintendo’s next console, often referred to as Switch 2, after developer Pearl Abyss discussed the idea during a July meeting. Even so, the studio stressed that any Switch 2 version would take time and would not be something players should expect to see publicly for a while.

A developer also teased that Crimson Desert could be building toward a significant downloadable content update, adding to the sense that the open-world RPG still has more plans ahead.

A Switch 2 Port of Crimson Desert is Officially Under Consideration

In a July 7 question-and-answer session with shareholders, Pearl Abyss CEO Huh Jun-young said the company believes it’s important for Crimson Desert to be available across as many platforms as possible. That mindset includes Nintendo’s upcoming hardware, and the CEO’s remarks made clear that the team is actively studying whether Switch 2 can support the game.

Huh Jun-young explained that the studio is reviewing Nintendo’s latest system specifically to determine how well Crimson Desert can perform on it. He added that development progress has reached the point where basic gameplay functionality is already possible on Switch 2 hardware. However, he also emphasized that a substantial amount of additional work remains before the project could meet the company’s expectations.

Because Crimson Desert is an open-world action game known for its strong visuals, Huh Jun-young noted that bringing it to Switch 2 won’t be a simple lift-and-shift. The studio would need to optimize and verify performance to satisfy internal standards. As a result, there is currently no announced schedule for when Crimson Desert might arrive on Switch 2.
