Cobblemon Guide: How to Farm Kelpsy Berries for Friendship and EV Control

Making a specific Pokémon feel exactly the way you want in Cobblemon can come down to targeted berry farming and a bit of timing. If your goal is to raise a Pokémon’s friendship or to lower its Attack EVs, you’ll want a Kelpsy Berry. The catch? Kelpsy Berries don’t grow on their own. Below is how to get them started, how to keep the farm running, and what you can do once you finally harvest one.

Here’s how to craft all types of Mulches in Cobblemon and the best berries to use them on.

How to Get a Kelpsy Berry in Cobblemon

First thing to know: the Kelpsy Berry is not naturally found. You can create it by planting a Cor n n Berry next to a Rindo Berry. That still leaves one problem—your first starter Cornn Berry also isn’t naturally occurring, which means you’ll need to build the chain before you can ever make Kelpsy Berries. To begin, you’ll want a Hoe and suitable farmland (dirt that’s been prepared and has water available).

Before planting, leave some empty blocks near your field so you can place water using a water bucket. The goal is simple: keep your crops consistently watered.

Next, place a Wiki Berry and a Bluk Berry right beside each other. When they fully grow, you’ll be able to harvest a Corn Berry from the result. Bone Meal can be used to speed up growth. After enough time, the Cornn Berry crop can drop with a 12.5% chance of mutation.

To clarify the setup: Bluk Berry is naturally occurring, but Wiki Berry is not. You’ll need to grow the Wiki Berry by planting a Persim Berry and a Chesto Berry next to each other, so the Wiki Berry becomes available for the Cornn Berry process.

Once you’ve obtained your mutated Cornn Berry, you can plant it to produce its own crop. The next step follows the same logic as the earlier fusion: put the Cornn Berry next to a Rindo Berry, and you’ll get the Kelpsy Berry.

How to Use a Kelpsy Berry in Cobblemon

Once you have a Kelpsy Berry, you can use it directly on your Pokémon. Feeding it will both decrease and improve different aspects of your team: it lowers the Attack EV by 10 points while increasing friendship by 10 points.

  1. Lowering an extremely high Attack EV helps you build a more balanced Pokémon.
  2. Increasing friendship often improves battle performance, and for some Pokémon it can be required before they can evolve.

To feed the berry, take your Pokémon out of its ball using the R key. Then, with the Kelpsy Berry in hand, right-click the Pokémon. If the Pokémon is already at full “fullness,” it won’t eat, so you’ll need to wait until that fullness indicator drops. You can monitor this in the stats menu.

Kelpsy Berries can also be used alongside other berries as a seasoning ingredient for Poke Snacks. Different berries provide different effects on Pokémon, so you can experiment based on the kind of boost you want.
