Boruto: Sasuke’s Eternal Mangekyo Techniques Ranked Among the Deadliest
Sasuke Uchiha might not be the headline character in the Boruto sequel era, but he’s still viewed as one of the most formidable shinobi ever. Even with a Rinnegan in his toolkit, Sasuke’s real power is largely tied to his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Those eyes unlock a wide range of devastating techniques, and—crucially—he’s able to rely on them repeatedly without the usual fear of going blind.
Among Sasuke’s Mangekyo abilities, his deadliest options can overwhelm other Kage-level fighters with ease. One technique is described as capable of erasing something on the scale of the Hidden Leaf Village, while another can seriously harm a Tailed Beast—or even temporarily end it—depending on how it’s used. Sasuke did lose his left eye to Momoshiki Otsutsuki, but the rest of his arsenal should still be fully available to him.
Naruto, meanwhile, has been weakened by recent circumstances, leaving him nowhere near the strongest ninja in Konoha in his current condition.
5 Amaterasu Produces Black Flames That Can Incinerate Anything
Sasuke gained Amaterasu after awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan following Itachi’s death, and it quickly became one of his favorite offensive tools. Only a small number of Naruto characters can counter Amaterasu effectively, and most of those answers rely on superhuman speed or abilities that can pull chakra out of the equation. Amaterasu manifests as black flames at the exact focal point of Sasuke’s gaze, which makes it extremely difficult to evade. The technique also takes a toll on his eyes, which is why it still causes bleeding when he uses it in the New Era.
Once Amaterasu ignites, it can’t be put out with normal methods. The flames are treated like “immortal” fire because they keep burning until the target is completely incinerated. Typically the burn is slow, but Sasuke can accelerate the process by concentrating the flames—turning it into an instant-kill level of destruction in the right moment. This was shown when Sasuke reduced Shin Uchiha’s metal blades to ash in seconds. His Amaterasu has also been used to burn down and knock out a fully released Eight-Tails, and it would have left Jigen severely damaged if Jigen hadn’t taken in the flames using his Karma.
4 Kagutsuchi Allows Sasuke To Shape Amaterasu’s Flames
Not long after unlocking his Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke created Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi, debuting it during his fight against the 4th Raikage at the Five Kage Summit. He can still use Kagutsuchi in the New Era, yet it hasn’t shown up in his battles against Momoshiki Otsutsuki or Isshiki Otsutsuki for reasons that aren’t fully spelled out. With Kagutsuchi, Sasuke can reshape Amaterasu’s black flames—an ability even Itachi couldn’t replicate.
Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi lets Sasuke alter Amaterasu into different forms for both offense and defense. He can harden and reinforce his Susanoo by surrounding it with black flames, boosting its durability. He can also generate a wall-like barrier made of spike-shaped flames that both protects him and threatens anyone who comes too close, including by impaling opponents. Sasuke can even craft a black-flame sword that fires spike-like projectiles every time he swings, using the technique to turn close-range strikes into repeated ranged pressure.
Naruto is set to return with a new release on July 9, and it comes with a special PUBG collaboration.
3 Susanoo Creates A Colossal Avatar With Power Similar To A Tailed Beast
Susanoo is an ability passed down through the Uchiha line and is widely treated as the ultimate Mangekyo Sharingan technique—available only to those who awaken it in both eyes. Sasuke first used it during the Five Kage Summit, but he didn’t reach a fully realized Susanoo form until the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War. In practice, Susanoo acts like a near “absolute” defense, making the user extremely hard to kill. Still, even someone as overwhelming as Jigen can punch through it with a single strike.
When Sasuke activates Susanoo, he calls forth a massive, winged, samurai-like figure made entirely from chakra. The avatar’s attacking strength is compared to that of a Tailed Beast. With one cut from its sword, Sasuke’s Susanoo can split a mountain in half. The humanoid Susanoo can also fire a huge arrow from a bow that doubles as a shield. While Sasuke’s Susanoo may not have accomplished much against Jigen, it’s still capable of holding its own against Otsutsuki Clan threats such as Kaguya and Momoshiki.
2 Susanoo: Chidori Adds Incredible Piercing Power To Sasuke’s Susanoo
Chidori is Sasuke’s signature technique, and the Sharingan enables him to use it effectively by solving the issue of tunnel vision. Over time, Sasuke expanded Chidori into multiple applications, including needle-like projectiles and a spear-style variant. At the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War, during his clash with Naruto in Final Valley, Sasuke used a new Chidori variation that can only be executed with a Complete Body Susanoo.
Sasuke hasn’t displayed Susanoo: Chidori in the New Era, but since he can still use both Chidori and Susanoo independently, it remains part of his capabilities. Susanoo: Chidori lets him generate a massive Chidori in the left hand of his Susanoo. That blast is said to match the power of the Nine-Tails’ Tailed Beast Ball, with the destructive output needed to vaporize a small area. In theory, it could pierce directly through Momoshiki’s massive stone golem, though Sasuke likely didn’t choose it in that moment because he had already been burned seconds before the golem appeared.
Naruto Uzumaki is a living legend, but several of Boruto’s strongest fighters have already exceeded the power level he represents at this stage.
1 Indra’s Arrow Is Sasuke’s Strongest Offensive Jutsu
Sasuke has become far more dangerous in the New Era, yet Indra’s Arrow is still widely treated as his strongest offensive technique. He has only used Indra’s Arrow once, and with Naruto no longer serving as a Jinchuriki, the implication is that this technique can elevate Sasuke to the status of the strongest ninja in the world. When Kurama died, the chance to see Indra’s Arrow again seemed gone—but now that the power has reincarnated inside Himawari, Sasuke can use it once more.
To fire Indra’s Arrow, Sasuke must draw chakra from all nine Tailed Beasts and store it inside his Complete Body Susanoo. The Susanoo’s form shifts as a longbow and lightning-infused arrow appear, charged with lightning-natured chakra. The arrow’s force is described as great enough to clash with two Tailed Beast Ball Rasenshuriken carrying Nature Energy. Indra’s Arrow is powerful enough to vaporize one of the Five Great Nations, and it should be equally capable of doing the same to a Ten-Tails.
