Black Ops 2 Weapon Camouflage Guide: Mastery Camos and DLC Unlocks
Black Ops 2 has 16 mastery camos you can earn through weapon-specific challenges, ranging from DEVGRU-themed designs up to Diamond. On top of that, there are 28 additional DLC camos to chase, and this guide walks through how to obtain them—along with the full set of mastery camo requirements, organized by weapon type.
Assault Rifle camo challenges
- Earn 150 kills without using any attachments.
- Earn 150 kills without equipping any perks.
- Get 5 kills without dying 10 times (Blood Thirsty medals).
- Finish all the camo steps listed above for the specific Assault Rifle you’re working on.
Gold camo is available for the MTAR, Type 25, SWAT-556, FAL OSW, M27, SCAR-H, SMR, M8A1, and AN-94.
Submachine Gun camo challenges
- Kill an enemy who previously eliminated you 30 times (Revenge medals).
- Complete every camo step listed above for the specific SMG you’re working on.
Gold camo is available for the MP7, PDW-57, Vector K10, MSMC, Chicom CQB, Skorpion EVO, and Peacekeeper.
Shotgun camo challenges
- Earn 50 kills without using any attachments.
- Earn 50 kills without equipping any perks.
- Get 5 kills without dying 10 times.
- Finish all the camo steps listed above for the specific shotgun you’re working on.
Gold camo is available for the R870 MCS, S12, KSG, and M1216.
Sniper Rifle camo challenges
- Earn 5 One Shot/One Kill medals.
- Earn 10 One Shot/One Kill medals.
- Earn 25 One Shot/One Kill medals.
- Earn 50 One Shot/One Kill medals.

- Combat Knife: Get 5 Revenge medals (kill a player who killed you).
- Assault Shield: Get 25 kills with the Assault Shield and no perks equipped.
- Crossbow: Get 1 Bloodthirsty medal (5 kills).
- Ballistic Knife: Get 1 Double Kill.
- Combat Knife: Kill 5 enemies with their own weapons after killing them with the Combat Knife.
- Assault Shield: Get 25 kills with the Assault Shield and no weapons equipped.
- Crossbow: Get a kill with every round in a clip.
- Ballistic Knife: Get 2 Bloodthirsty medals (5 kills).
- Combat Knife: Get 5 Bloodthirsty medals (5 kills).

Gold camo unlocks for the Assault Shield, Ballistic Knife, Crossbow, and Combat Knife.
Launcher camo challenges
- Destroy 5 aircraft in a single match (1 time).
- Complete all the camo steps listed above for any launcher weapon.
Gold camo unlocks for the SMAW, FHJ-18 AA, and RPG.
How to unlock Diamond camo
Diamond camo is the last camo you can obtain in Black Ops 2. To unlock Diamond, you must have earned Gold camo for every weapon in the same category. For example, if you want Diamond camo for the MSMC submachine gun, you’ll need Gold camo on all other SMGs.
There is no hidden or secret camo method for getting Diamond across all weapons.

Camo tips for Black Ops 2
- For headshot-related challenges, focus on the Hardcore Playlist, since health is lowered in these modes—making headshots and one-hit kills much easier.
- For mastery-style challenges (like Cherry Blossom and Art of War), you can combine progress by stripping things down: remove all perks and attachments to potentially earn two camos in one run, reducing the grind.
- If a camo requirement involves killstreaks, consider using an Assault Shield on your back as a secondary to cover your blind side (via the Overkill Wildcard).
- The Shock Charge tactical equipment can also help by keeping enemies stationary, letting you land Sniper Rifle or Shotgun hits more consistently.
