Black Ops 2 Buried Guide: How to Reach Pack-a-Punch via the Hedge Maze

In Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies, Buried delivers one of the mode’s stranger Pack-a-Punch trips: instead of a straightforward room, you’re sent through a randomly generated hedge maze and a spooky mansion packed with ghost girls. The catch? Those ghosts can steal your points, leaving you with nothing to spend on upgrades when you finally reach the machine.

If you’re trying to reach Pack-a-Punch—or escape it—this guide breaks down the steps so you can navigate the mansion and get through the maze with less frustration.

And if you’re doing more than just grinding upgrades: finishing all three Victis crew Easter eggs doesn’t end the story. There’s still a super Easter egg left to complete.

How to reach Pack-a-Punch in Buried

  1. Start by getting Arthur, who is locked in the Jailhouse. Head up the stairs on the right, jump across the gap, and enter the floor hole to find the locked cell plus the key positioned to the left.

  2. Use the booze behind Arthur so he breaks himself free from the Jailhouse.

  3. Once Arthur is out, go to the saloon and grab another bottle of Booze. You’ll use this booze to smash objects in your way, clearing access to the open garden area where the mansion sits at the far end.

  4. Before Arthur smashes the barrier that blocks the path to the mansion, make sure he smashes into the fountain. This matters later because it makes your eventual exit from Pack-a-Punch easier.

  5. With the booze in hand, smash through the gates into the mansion. Before you go in, keep in mind the hazard: if any ghost woman touches you, you’ll lose your Points until you’re down to zero.

  6. Go up the main stairs and enter the left-hand room. There’s a bookshelf inside that opens gradually, letting you slip through and reach the garden maze area.

  7. After you enter the garden maze, kill the remaining ghost women that come out of the mansion. Doing so rewards you with a free Perk.

  8. Now it’s time to reach the machine: you’ll need to push through the hedge maze to find the gazebo at the far end, where Pack-a-Punch is located.

  9. The hedge route is randomized every time you enter, but there’s a reliable trick: stick to the right-side hedges. That path should lead you to the stairs that take you down to Pack-a-Punch.

  10. If you want a shortcut, you can also jump over the hedges using the Paralyzer.

How to leave the Pack-a-Punch maze in Buried

  1. When you’re done in the Pack-a-Punch area, head to the center of the hedge maze where you’ll find a fountain.

  2. Cook a grenade and throw it into the fountain. If you previously destroyed the other fountain using Arthur, this one will collapse—and a portal will appear inside.

  3. Finally, jump into the hole where the fountain was to enter the portal that takes you back to spawn.

  4. This is described as the easiest and safest exit route, though you can also try a more direct approach: stay on the left side and follow the hedge walls to locate the exit.

With both the entrance and exit covered, you can focus on the bigger picture: Buried’s main Easter egg has two separate paths. There are guides for each, one for the Maxis route and one for the Richtofen route.
