Babylon Berlin Narrative Adventure Eine Nacht im Moka Efti Free on Steam
A new narrative adventure set in the world of Babylon Berlin is on the way to Steam. Eine Nacht im Moka Efti: Eine Babylon Berlin Story is being developed for the SWR by Paintbucket Games, and it’s planned as a free download in September 2026.
A Babylon Berlin story, centered on a missing thread in the night
The game follows Gabriele Miersch, a young journalist who tracks down a mysterious case that ultimately leads her into the Berlin nightclub “Moka Efti.” Once inside, she’s left with clues she must pursue through a mix of conversations and on-the-ground investigation. The story is framed in a historical setting tied to the Weimar Republic.
Exploration, investigations, and multiple story outcomes
Eine Nacht im Moka Efti blends exploration with detective work. Players will be able to search the venue and uncover hidden areas, while Gabriele’s memories help piece together what happened during that night step by step. The game includes three different routes through the narrative, each leading to different endings.
Steam listings also indicate that the experience will feature full German voice acting, alongside options for German and English user interface language and subtitles.
Studio, partners, and platforms
Paintbucket Games is responsible for development. The Berlin-based studio is also known for The Darkest Files. This project was created through the SWR X Lab, developed in collaboration with Babylon Berlin creator Achim von Borries and X Filme. The publisher roles are attributed to ARD Gaming and Südwestrundfunk.
On Steam, the title is presented as a free-to-play single-player adventure. It will support Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Coming in September 2026: the free Steam release of Eine Nacht im Moka Efti: Eine Babylon Berlin Story, featuring German voice acting and a branching narrative built around investigations in “Moka Efti.”
