Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Guide: New Shanties & Ship Songs
Taking your ship out onto the open water in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is one of those experiences that instantly makes the world feel alive—whales splash up out of the sea, other vessels cut across the horizon, and small islands sit in the distance like they might be hiding something valuable. Your boat isn’t just transport either; it doubles as a personal base where you can keep improving your arsenal and fortifying the hull. And if you’re wondering where the soundtrack fits in, the game’s sea shanties are a big part of that atmosphere. Here’s how to unlock new ones and swap between them while you’re out sailing in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The Assassin’s Creed franchise has no shortage of memorable faces, but the series is also known for its standout character lineup—so let’s start by acknowledging that there are plenty of options worth remembering.
How to Get More Sea Shanties in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
Sea shanties are unlocked by locating and picking up music sheets scattered across the world. When you synchronize with certain nearby viewpoints—shown on your map with a bird icon—you’ll have those music-sheet locations marked so you can track down what you need.
Most music sheets are found well above ground level, in spots that expect you to climb and use parkour to reach them. Once you get close enough, though, the sheet won’t just sit there waiting—after it starts moving, you’ll need to chase it. In many cases, the music sheet travels across rooftops or winds through streets for roughly half a minute before it reaches a stopping point. It stays there briefly, but if you miss it during the movement or fail to collect it before it finishes its route, it vanishes and resets back to its original starting location.
To claim a music sheet, you don’t need any complicated interaction—just run into it or move through it to pick it up.
After you collect one, you’ll get a notification on the right side of the screen that tells you which sea shanty you just unlocked. From there, it’s immediately usable by your crew, but you’ll only hear them sing once you return to your ship and set sail.
One practical approach is to try catching a music sheet right as it begins its route. Since it starts at a fixed point, you can sometimes reach it faster by dropping in from a higher spot. For instance, in Havana you can descend from an elevated rooftop to grab the sheet without having to chase it through the streets. Another time-saver is to learn the typical travel path each music sheet takes, so you know where it will end up before you commit to the run.
How to Change Sea Shanty on Your Ship in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
While you’re out on the water, press and hold the d-pad to bring up the “Shanty Player” menu. Once that menu is open, use the right analog stick to cycle through the sea shanties you currently have available. When you want a different song, reopen the menu and select the new shanty you want to use.
Keep in mind that your crew won’t sing during storms. If the weather turns rough with heavy seas and thunderstorms, you’ll need to wait until conditions calm down before they start their singing again. You may also notice they won’t perform while you’re fighting another ship—though at that point, you’ll likely be busy enough dealing with the battle anyway.
