Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced: Efficient Metal & Wood Farming Tips

Much of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced centers on life at sea: moving between Caribbean islands, hunting enemy vessels, and expanding your Fleet. As the campaign progresses, you’ll run into ships that are bigger and harder to take down, which means naval fights become far more manageable only after your Jackdaw is upgraded to the right level.

To upgrade your ship at the Harbourmaster, you’ll need plenty of Reales, Metal, and Wood. If you’re finding yourself short on crafting materials, here are some of the most effective ways to farm both Metal and Wood across the early, mid, and late stages of the game.

Curious what you’ll do after the main story wraps up? Here’s a look at the major activities waiting for you in AC Black Flag Resynced.

How to Farm Metal & Wood in AC Black Flag Resynced

Early to Mid Game Metal & Wood Farm

In the early chapters, your best priority is capturing the forts scattered across the Caribbean. Forts that have fewer than five defensive towers are usually reasonable to handle—unless you get unlucky and they bring reinforcements into the fight.

If you approach a fort and see multiple nearby ships turn hostile at the same time, don’t rush the battle. Back out of the restricted zone, then use your Mortar to lure those ships away. After you sink them, return and take the fort on with far less pressure from every direction.

Fort captures pay out a solid chunk of Metal and Wood, which is why they’re such a dependable early upgrade source. There’s also an added benefit: once you capture a fort, you unlock Fleet missions for that region. Those missions let you send ships on expeditions that can bring back even more resources.

While you’re sailing around in the Jackdaw, keep using the Spyglass. Before you commit to a fight, inspect a target ship’s cargo. If you spot a vessel carrying a lot of Metal or Wood, it’s usually worth boarding rather than letting it sail past.

Another effective—though unconventional—farming approach is to deliberately raise your Wanted Level. Normally, having Hunter Ships hunt you down is more of a nuisance than a help, especially when you’re already juggling missions or side content.

That said, those pursuit ships often bring large supplies of Metal and Wood. Board them to grab the resources, then fast travel to a viewpoint and let new Hunter ships spawn so you can repeat the loop.

Late Game Metal & Wood Farm

Near the end of the game, you should be strong enough to capture forts in the higher-level regions with relative ease. Even so, the number of those forts isn’t high enough to make them a consistent farming option for the long haul.

Instead, sail toward the southern half of the map and start hunting Man o’ Wars. These are the largest ships in the game, and they can be brutal opponents—but they’re also among the best sources of Metal and Wood.

When possible, avoid Man o’ Wars that are traveling with multiple smaller ships. Being hit from several angles at once can overwhelm even a well-upgraded Jackdaw.

Fortunately, Man o’ Wars respawn often, which makes them a reliable late-game target. You can also keep your Wanted Level active so Hunter ships continue joining the encounter, giving you another steady stream of resources while you’re already out at sea.

After you secure the Ultimate Plans needed for the Jackdaw’s final upgrades, you’ll be better prepared to take on the Legendary Ships—some of the toughest naval battles available.
