Chapter 5 Garden Cliffs Walkthrough: New Item, Tough Hazards, Dark Fountain

In the latest stretch of Chapter 5, Kris, Susie, and Ralsei push deeper into the Garden, armed with a new item that changes how they move through the area. The climb ahead is still steep, and the flower-filled hazards don’t ease up—especially once the story threads toward the Flower Castle in the distance, where the Dark Fountain and Kris’s father are tied together in what feels like an inevitable showdown.

The Beginning

Once you reach the cliffs above the garden, Kris’s “Fun Gang” will catch up to Asgore and Flowery. Even though Asgore has clearly noticed Kris, Flowery wastes no time—speeding Kris’s dad away toward the Flower Castle. Flowery also warns Kris not to follow, but the party keeps moving anyway.

After the cutscene ends, a Save Point appears. From there, keep climbing by heading up and out through a vine. A bright sunset finally breaks through the background as you push forward, dash through the Tori Gate, and then launch yourself to the next ledge to continue the ascent.

When you reach the top, drop down the hole scattered with flower petals. This opens into a cavern space where you can switch into your new action platforming approach using the Petal Feather and the strange structures embedded in the environment. Next, jump up and use Ralsei’s ACT command on the roots to climb even higher until you spot the small Aqua girl from earlier, speaking with someone you can overhear somewhere in the Garden.

After those conversations wrap up, Ralsei identifies the group’s identities: they’re some of the seven colored flowers from Asgore’s shop that he keeps upstairs. They’ve taken on (nearly) human shapes. One of them—the new purple flower named Seth—starts leaving bullet patterns behind, disguised as flying books that you can knock out of the air with a jump attack. Chase Seth by climbing upward and using Ralsei’s hooks, and clear out plants along the way to earn additional Flowery Dollars as you move up and left across the root hook route.

After you deal with a handful of those books, a bigger purple book shows up. It’s tougher than the rest and begins summoning dangerous letters that spin around it inside a protective barrier. Use quick, short hops to cross the rotating letters and land strikes on the book itself. Keep in mind the targeting rule here: for Kris, the only effective hitbox is the heart, not the character’s full outline. When you get an opening, Susie’s Stunbuster ACT can lock the book in place while it tries to drift around the arena.

Once the larger book is defeated—and the Flowery Dollars are collected—you can jump up and left to find a structure that restores you to normal movement. Before you revert, though, look left for another root where Ralsei can hook in order to reach one last platform packed with plants you can slice for extra rewards. Then drop down the shaft below where Ralsei is hooked to spot a pink bell.

Ralsei will extend downward while still attached to the root, letting Kris hop onto the extension and zip back up. From there, jump to the alcove and attack the bell to reveal a new Pink Coin.
