Chiikawa the Movie Reclaims Japan Box Office Lead as Blue Lock Enters Top 3
The Japanese box office is reshuffling as the third weekend of Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island brings the top spot back to the forefront. The Nagano manga adaptation added another 1.6 billion yen (about €9.2 million) over the weekend, pushing its overall total to over 6.7 billion yen (approximately €36.9 million).
Ano Hoshi ga Furu Oka de, Kimi to Mata Deaitai, the sequel film Till We Meet Again on that Hill Where the Stars Fall, lands in fourth place with a far smaller early haul. During its first three days in theaters, it accumulated roughly 399.5 million yen (around €2.1 million), continuing the momentum of its predecessor, Ano Hana ga Saku Oka de, Kimi to mata Deaetara.
Down the chart, Crayon Shin-chan The Movie Super Strange! My Yōkai Monster Vacation slips three positions to sixth in its third-weekend run after a debut the previous week. The 34th entry in the franchise has earned about 1.1 billion yen so far.
In the middle of the rankings, Kingdom 5: Tamashii no Kessen drops from fifth to seventh during its fourth weekend. The live-action installment—based on Yasuhisa Hara’s manga—added 309.4 million yen (roughly €1.7 million) to its total, which now stands at over 4.9 billion yen (about €26.8 million).
Finally, a fresh entry arrives in eighth place: the live-action adaptation of Blue Lock. Written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, the film debuted with approximately 277.6 million yen (around €1.5 million) in its first three days.
