GTA 6 Price Hike to $79.99 Could Add $450M in Year-One Revenue
A fintech firm has run the numbers on how a higher sticker price for Grand Theft Auto 6 could translate into meaningful extra income for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive. The company points to Bank of America’s projections for the game’s opening-year sales, arguing that moving the standard edition from $69.99 to $79.99 could bring in at least $450 million in additional gross revenue. Interest in GTA 6’s earning potential has been intense ever since the game’s release announcement, with multiple commentators suggesting it may have already cleared $1 billion in pre-order revenue.
Mateusz Czyzkowski, a financial markets analyst at XTB, thinks Rockstar’s comparatively small $10 increase for GTA 6’s standard version can still become a surprisingly large revenue lever. His view is built on Bank of America’s earlier outlook, which projected the title could move at least 45 million copies during its first year on sale.
Still, the price jump to $80 isn’t the whole story. When you look beyond simple sticker pricing and take inflation-adjusted comparisons into account, the data implies that GTA 6 may not be the least affordable Rockstar release in the franchise’s history.
GTA 6’s Additional Revenue Could Far Exceed $450M
In XTB’s analysis, Czyzkowski put the calculation plainly: “Based on Bank of America’s estimate of 45 million copies sold in the first year, the difference between prices of $70 and $80 represents approximately $450 million in additional gross revenue.” The reasoning is simple—multiply the per-unit gap by the projected volume. But the report also notes that the game’s early momentum could push the upside well beyond that baseline. With GTA 6 reportedly raking in $1 billion in its first hour of pre-orders, the ceiling for extra revenue looks far higher than the $450 million figure. The same XTB write-up adds that Bank of America has already lifted its bookings forecast for Take-Two Interactive, expecting a substantially larger revenue contribution once the game actually launches.
