Top Palworld 1.0 Base Spots to Dominate Resources Early

Setting up a base in Palworld is the first major move you make to turn the map into something you can actually control. Since you can’t place an unlimited number of bases, the real advantage comes from choosing locations that cover key resources early and keep paying off as your crafting needs ramp up. After multiple playthroughs and a lot of trial and error, here are the best base spots to build around, with coordinates included.

Base placement guide (locations and availability)

This guide focuses on in-world base placement for Palworld, using specific map coordinates for each recommended base. All listed spots are intended to help you start passive resource collection sooner, then scale into mid- and late-game mining setups.

Best base locations and what they’re for

Base purpose Best coordinates
First Base 135, -445
Base for Basic Ores 290, -100
Base for Hardwood and Coal -160, -90
Base for Chromite and Hexolite -1180, -1230
Base for Crude Oil 400, -465
Base for Soralite -305, -1410

How to approach base building in Palworld

There are a bunch of viable ways to build up your presence in Palworld, but my preferred method is simple: place bases beside resources so your Pals can farm them in the background while you’re out doing everything else. The early plan is to find a location that covers starter materials, then expand by adding specific mining setups—like a Quarry—for each ore type once you’re ready to scale.

You can also ranch Leather-making Pals in Palworld if you’d rather not hunt for materials yourself.

First Base: 135, -445

To get rolling, you don’t need much beyond the basics. Early on, most starter base structures can be built with Wood, Stone, and Paldium Fragments. Because of that, your first move should be finding a broad, flat area that makes placement easy. The best starting spot I found is at (135, -445).

It’s close to the first Tower and tends to draw in more Pals around the area compared to the starter biome, which helps your early operations. On top of that, you can find Iron Nodes and Berries nearby, making the spot more valuable than a purely “starter materials” location.

Base for Basic Ores: 290, -100

Once you’re ready to improve your crafting, this next base location is built for access to more than just the absolute essentials. The core idea here is resource coverage: you want a second spot that opens up materials like Iron, Sulfur, and especially Pure Quartz.

The coordinates for this setup are (290, -100). The terrain is wide and flat, so you can build without constantly fighting awkward ground. Even though it’s farther from your starting base, the trip pays off because Pure Quartz is required to make Circuit Boards—an item category used in nearly everything later in the game.

Base for Hardwood and Coal: -160, -90

As you move toward mid-game and the eventual endgame, upgrades and new buildings start consuming Hardwood at a much higher rate. That means you’ll want a dedicated location where you can send Pals to farm it automatically.

The best spot I found for this is in the desert area east of the Deep Bamboo Thicket region. At (-160, -90), you can find multiple Coal nodes positioned near a stand of Hardwood trees. Around the base area, you can also pick up Iron and Sulfur, and it’s a good zone for mid-game mining Pals such as Digtoise and Alpha Anubis.

Base for Chromite and Hexolite: -1180, -1230

When your production line begins demanding Chromite and Hexolite, you might expect an ideal spot where both resources are tightly clustered and easy to automate. In practice, I found this part a little underwhelming.

At (-1180, -1230), Chromite and Hexolite nodes usually aren’t positioned close enough together to make autofarming feel efficient. There’s also a practical limitation: Pals can’t autofarm Chromite nodes because they won’t target them properly unless you use a metal detector first. Still, the location remains serviceable because it provides multiple resources from one operational base area, which matters once you’ve already reached this portion of the map.

Base for Crude Oil: 400, -465

If your Crude Oil supply is running low and you want more extraction without constantly hunting for it, you can set a base specifically for that job.

The best Crude Oil base areas are close to the starting region. On the eastern side, you can reach a small island that contains six Crude Oil extraction locations. A single base can be positioned to hit three of those extraction spots at once, which should be enough to keep your needs covered.

Base for Soralite: -305, -1410

Soralite is a tricky resource to obtain because mining it from the node requires a Plasma Multicutter for your character. However, that restriction doesn’t apply the same way for higher-level mining Pals—those Pals can handle the task themselves.

In my experience, a huge number of endgame items end up tying back to Soralite in one way or another, so building near Soralite nodes is the best way to gather it passively rather than repeatedly going out to extract it manually.

Here’s the key placement: the best spot to set up your Soralite base is on the Sunreach floating islands, directly at (-305, 1410), where your Pals can mine up to six Soralite nodes. You can later reinforce the base with additional Quarries so it becomes a fully automated ore mining setup.
