Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Fans Demand Longer Super Saiyan Transformation Time

Bandai Namco has released fresh gameplay footage for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, and one detail in particular has already sparked heavy backlash: transformations such as Super Saiyan now come with a much shorter duration than players are used to.

Transformation Durations Are Short, and Players Hate It

In the latest Xenoverse 3 demo, Super Saiyan is shown off in closer detail, including a distinct animation and a visible change to the Saiyan’s hair for the first time in the series’ transformation presentation. While those additions look cool, the bigger issue is the new, plainly noticeable time limit attached to the power-up.

According to what’s shown in the demo, activating Super Saiyan (and what appears to be every transformation) requires a meter to be filled over time, and then the transformation itself has its own cap. Super Saiyan 1 is limited to just one minute. Super Saiyan 3 appears to follow the same logic but with an even tighter window, with many players struggling to get the form to work consistently, based on how it was presented in off-screen footage from a recent demo.

That duration problem was flagged in a prior preview of Xenoverse 3, with the expectation that it would be a dealbreaker for a portion of the audience. The reasoning is understandable—developers appear to be aiming for transformations to feel like true “power-ups”—but the community response has been overwhelmingly negative.

Transformations previously felt more constrained in the first Xenoverse, where they had to be maintained continuously using ki. Xenoverse 2 then made transformations easier to access. Now, players worry that the franchise is moving in the opposite direction again, making the stronger states feel too temporary for how often they want to use them. One Reddit user, Zestyclose-Spring602, even argued that Dimps “ruined” the mechanic by changing it too aggressively.

Community Backlash Is Fast—But No Fix Has Been Confirmed Yet

Since the demo went live, the transformation time limit has become the main topic of discussion across the Xenoverse community, showing up in memes and in frustrated calls for an immediate adjustment. There is some hope that the backlash will prompt changes, but at the moment, the only thing confirmed is that players should plan around the idea that Super Saiyan will be temporary.

Fans are also wondering whether higher “mastery” could raise the time cap in the future, but that possibility hasn’t been confirmed in the demo information so far.

I recently had a hands-off preview of Xenoverse 3, and it already looks like a massive leap forward for the series.
