Where to Find Wispaws in Palworld (Best Night Locations and Tips)

Wispaws are nocturnal Pals you can only encounter at night in Palworld. In practice, that means you’ll want to head out after dark and look west of the Small Settlement on Windswept Island, where they roam around in fairly easy-to-reach areas. They’re solid in fights too—especially when you need a Pal that can dish out Dark damage—but their real standout feature is their passive Partner Skill, which improves your chances of capturing Pals. If you’re aiming to add one of these cute cats to your roster, here’s where to go.

Where to Find Wispaws in Palworld

  • Wispaws are found only during nighttime.
  • They tend to roam around the plains west of the Small Settlement on Windswept Island.

You can spot wild Wispaws along the outer edges of Windswept Island. The region around the Winswept Island Watchtower—located due west of the Small Settlement and the Hill of Beginnings—is usually a reliable hotspot during the night. You can also find them in the northern foothills, plus on the eastern side of the island near the area east of the Syndicate Oil Rig.

Compared to the more common Pals around the Hill of Beginnings, Wispaws are a step up in strength. If you’re planning to catch one, it’s smart to come prepared—either use a Crossbow or bring a higher-level Pal to help you manage the fight. If you’re worried about accidentally knocking a target out while attempting a capture, craft a Ring of Mercy. This item stops you from dropping enemy HP below 1.

Another option is to bring a Daedream and let it attack in a passive way. Daedream’s attacks won’t finish off enemies, as long as you don’t actually summon it onto the battlefield. Instead, it will orbit your character and keep firing at targets thanks to its passive behavior.

Wispaw Skills & Effects

As a Dark-type Pal, Wispaws can learn a variety of Dark skills. One of the first Wispaws the player caught came with three different area-of-effect skills, which made it especially useful for dealing with large groups—such as enemies you might face in Syndicate camps or during base raids.

Every Wispaw also comes with the Death-Cheating Feline Partner Skill. When you have a Wispaw in your party, you get an improved Back Bonus for capturing Pals. Back Bonus is the extra capture rate chance you gain when you hit a Pal from behind using a Pal Sphere.

This Back Bonus can apply to any Pal in the game, as long as that Pal can actually be captured.

The size of the bonus isn’t fixed—it appears to vary based on both the target Pal’s level and the Pal Sphere you’re using. In one test, a full-health level 2 Lambball had its capture rate increased by 5% higher than normal when using a Wispaw-enhanced Back Bonus. In the same kind of comparison, the Back Bonus against a full-health level 12 Mimog was only 4% higher than usual.

Wispaw’s Partner Skill isn’t a dramatic game-changer, but even a small capture boost can matter when you’re trying to add Pals efficiently.

Back Bonuses also work while you’re in combat. The key requirement is that the Pal you’re trying to catch must be facing away from you. This is usually manageable if your own Pal is drawing attention, and it becomes even easier if you can incapacitate the target.
