Moonlight Peaks: Fast Route to Craft Iron Bars and Upgrade Tools

If you want to tackle the larger targets faster in Moonlight Peaks and save time on upgrades, it’s time to move past copper. The key is producing Iron Bars so you can improve your tools. The good news is that getting iron becomes straightforward once you already have Copper Tools and access to the Cave of Echoes. Here’s the full route: where to find Iron Ore, how to smelt it using Charcoal in the Furnace, and how to turn it into tools that will help you keep leveling up your farmland.

Because tool upgrades matter so much in Moonlight Peaks, you’ll want to keep pushing your equipment forward so your farmland progression doesn’t stall. Below is everything you need to do to reach iron.

How to Get Iron Ore in Moonlight Peaks

Iron Ore Locations

Iron Ore is located in the Cave of Echoes, but you’ll need a Copper Pickaxe first. You can obtain a Copper Pickaxe by crafting it from Copper Bars. Those Copper Bars come from smelting Copper Ore in a Furnace. Building that Furnace requires x15 Copper Ore and x5 Refined Stone. Once the Furnace and Copper gear are ready, you can travel to Ridge at the Howling Hammer to upgrade your tools up to copper.

After you have a Copper Pickaxe, enter the Cave of Echoes, located in the southwest corner of the map. Inside, Iron Ore can be found on the right side of the cave, so move toward the bottom area and look for rocks that resemble silver nuggets—those are the spots you can mine.

How to Make Iron Bars in Moonlight Peaks

Bring your Iron Ore to your Furnace—you’ll receive this around Day 7. Then load 4 Iron Ore with 1 Charcoal to produce Iron Bars. These Bars are what you’ll use to upgrade your tools, but they’re also a stepping stone for a few additional stations that show up later in the game. In other words, this is a resource worth prioritizing now since it continues paying off as you progress.
