Off the beaten path, Ubisoft’s overhaul-style add-ons drop in a stack of fresh side content—whether you’re hunting Blackbeard’s Treasure, helping Captain Stede Bonnet with whatever trouble he’s dealing with, or spending time decorating Edward’s manor. If you keep exploring beyond the next objective, there’s almost always another activity waiting for you.
One of the biggest new structures tied to this version is the Officer Quests. These let Edward recruit three seasoned naval officers to join the Jackdaw. You don’t have to finish every beat of an officer’s personal storyline to unlock them, but completing all of the missions in that sequence pays off with extra rewards and deeper context for their backstories. How to Recruit Lucy Baldwin in AC Black Flag Resynced
A Proper Shipwright
- Unlock Requirement: Complete Sequence 4: This Old Cove.
To start Lucy’s questline, sail to Salt Key Bank and dock. Instead of going straight onto the island, swim to the nearby prison ship and climb aboard.
From there, you can take the stealth route and remove guards quietly, or go loud and clear the area before pushing into the holding section. Lucy Baldwin is trapped in one of the cells, so interact with the door to free her. Just as you’re about to leave, the British Fleet arrives to stop the escape. Sink every enemy ship and the mission concludes.
The One With the Gun
Head to the tavern in Great Inagua to meet Lucy again. Edward tries to persuade her to formally join the crew, but he also offers to show her around the island. Follow the objective marker through the village while Edward and Lucy stop to talk along the way. Eventually you’ll reach the manor, where another cutscene plays.
After the cutscene, Lucy officially joins your crew and you unlock the Perfect Brace ability for the Jackdaw. If you time the brace action right before an enemy ship strikes, you can noticeably reduce the damage you take.
The quest doesn’t end there. Travel to Black Island and find Lucy again. Walk with her through the jungle, clearing out guards as you go, then enter the manor.
- Baldwin’s will is upstairs on the table.
- Barrister’s Letter is downstairs on another table.
Once you’ve inspected both items, return to following the objective marker until you reach Lucy and trigger the final cutscene. Leave Black Island after that to finish the quest.
Plantain!
Go back to the Great Inagua tavern and wait for Lucy. After you talk about plantain, follow her toward Edward’s manor. The moment you get close, she challenges you to a race. Winning doesn’t provide any direct rewards, but it can alter a small line of dialogue. Either way, once the cutscene finishes, the quest is over.
Big Wig
Lucy is now in Havana. Meet her there, and she explains that her grandfather once owned a cabin north of town. Travel to the marked beach, where you’ll run into the Barrister and his group.
Defeat all enemies, then look east to spot a spade sticking out of the ground. Dig up the buried treasure to wrap up Lucy’s storyline.
If you’re aiming for the Davy Jones’ Locker trophy or achievement in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, this is also the place you’ll want to swim down to reach the lowest point.
How to Recruit The Padre in AC Black Flag Resynced
A Second Chance
Go to Caracol on the eastern side of the map and speak with the Padre. After the cutscene, you need to talk to three villagers.
Two of them only exchange brief words with Edward, while Dinah Calverley asks you to bring her some food. After you’ve finished speaking with everyone, return to the Padre to complete the quest.
Loyalty, Discipline, and Courage
Travel to Cumberland Bay and clear the enemies occupying the camp. Interact with the paper attached to a barrel to learn that Du Casse’s men are heading for the Padre’s village. Return immediately and speak with the Padre.
He’ll officially join your crew and reward you with Ram Dash for the Jackdaw. This ability lets you charge directly into enemy ships, dealing devastating hull damage.
If Thy Right Hand Offend Thee
- Unlock Requirement: Complete A World Without Gold.
Go to Cape Bonavista and defeat Du Casse’s men. Talk to the Padre, then follow him into the nearby cave. Clear out six more enemies, then investigate the clues.
- The open container filled with Du Casse’s weapons.
- The wine bottles beside the barrels.
- The Bishop’s Orders attached to the tree further ahead.
Once you’ve found all three clues, the mission is complete.
The Other Cheek
Meet the Padre in Kingston’s marketplace. After the cutscene, you must determine where the Bishop is located by investigating three separate clues. Those clues are:
- A warning notice pinned to the board in the middle of the market.
- An invitation letter carried by one of two civilians talking near the shore beside the barn. You’ll need to loot it.
- A conversation near the docks where civilians reference the Bishop’s secret prayers in the forest.
Bring every clue back to the Padre. Follow him through the forest, defeat all enemies guarding the Bishop, then eliminate the Bishop himself to finish the entire questline.

How to Recruit Tobias “Deadman” Smith in AC Black Flag Resynced
No Box Dark Enough
- Unlock Requirement: Complete A World Without Gold: I Just Want to Talk.
Meet Tobias in Great Inagua, then sail together to Petite Caverne. Once you dock, fight through British soldiers alongside Tobias until you reach the commander hiding at the far end of the cavern. Kill him to complete the mission.
All Love Must End
Head to Crooked Island to continue Tobias’ storyline. After arriving, rescue all four captured villagers while handling the British troops stationed in the area. When everyone is safe, go to Deadman’s house to finish the mission.
Very Little, But Something
Return to Great Inagua and speak with Tobias one final time. You’ll unlock Deadman’s Cohort Mortar for the Jackdaw before you set sail toward the mission marker.
After that, a major naval battle kicks off. Make strong use of your new mortar attack, but don’t rely on destroying ships outright. Instead, weaken enemy vessels enough to board them. This approach also gives you a way to restore the Jackdaw’s health—highly valuable given how many ships you’ll be fighting.
When all hostile ships are sunk, Tobias’ questline ends.
