Mass Effect 3 Citadel Heating Unit Stabilizers Guide: Picks, Fights, Choices

If you’re working through Mass Effect 3’s Citadel side content, the “Citadel: Heating Unit Stabilizers” mission is a short but specific errand chain. This guide walks you through where to pick up every item, how to handle the mission’s fights, and which decisions you’ll want to make for your run.

Mission overview and rewards

Before you start, here’s what you can expect from the mission itself:

  • Mission Experience: 30 XP
  • Reputation: +5
  • Mission Credits: 1,000 credits
  • War Assets: +8 TMS to Salarian Third Fleet

Opening requirements and where to go

Task Search

This task won’t show up until you clear the earlier story step “Priority: Palaven.” Once that’s done, you’ll gain access to the Presidium Commons on the Citadel.

  • Prerequisite: Complete “Priority: Palaven”
  • Location: Serpent Nebula → Widow → Citadel → Presidium Commons → C-Sec Outpost

After you’ve finished “Priority: Palaven,” head to the Presidium Commons. For orientation, the Citadel is the central hub of the galaxy, and it will always display guidance in the western region of the Milky Way—so you won’t be guessing where you are.

Meeting Sellea and starting the real objective

With the Presidium Commons unlocked, make your way to the C-Sec Outpost in the eastern part of the Commons. Outside the outpost, you can overhear a conversation involving a Salarian dressed in white.

Once you’ve reached the right spot, you’ll be able to locate Sellea and continue the mission chain from there.

Heating schematics: prerequisites, locations, and backups

To progress the “Citadel: Heating Unit Stabilizers” side mission, you’ll need to complete another main quest first: “Priority: Tuchanka.” After that, the game will open up the related N7 assignment, “N7: Cerberus Fighter Base.”

  • Prerequisite: Complete “Priority: Tuchanka”
  • Location: Horse Head Nebula → Pax → Noveria

Your first task in “N7: Cerberus Fighter Base” involves reaching a Command Center and deactivating a Security Console. After you locate the console, rotate around and head toward the wall directly across from it.

On that opposite wall, you’ll find two monitors. The left monitor will show a graph—this is where the Heating Unit Schematics appear, and it’s the information you need to continue the Citadel side mission.

Missed it? Buy the stabilizers instead

If you didn’t pick up the schematics during “N7: Cerberus Fighter Base,” you still have a fallback. Go to Spectre Requisitions back on the Citadel and purchase the Heating Stabilizers for 1,000 credits. Buying them satisfies the requirement for this quest as well.

Turn-in and completion

When you have the Heating Schematics (or Heating Units, depending on how you obtained the requirement), head back to Sellea outside the C-Sec Outpost. Don’t worry if you left him behind earlier—he remains there.

Talk to Sellea again, and that interaction will complete the Side Mission. Well done.
