Shangri-La Pack-a-Punch Guide: Solve the Pressure Plates in Black Ops Zombies

Pack-a-Punch is one of the most important upgrades in any Black Ops Zombies match, and that’s especially true on Shangri-La, which many players consider one of the toughest maps in the mode. The catch is that the Pack-a-Punch station on Shangri-La isn’t freely accessible—you have to solve a pressure-plate setup with your teammates, and you’ll need to repeat the process every time you want to use it. That requirement is a big reason the map sparks so much debate in the community.

Shangri-La does include an easter-egg-style chain of steps, but this breakdown streamlines the pressure-plate portion into a clear, repeatable checklist for Black Ops Zombies players.

How to Activate Pack-a-Punch in Shangri-La

Before you can do anything with the pressure plates, you need to restore power. The process is straightforward: leave the starting area, head toward the left or right side, then go through the tunnels to reach the underground power station. In the main chamber, you’ll find two power switches—there are two to pull here, not just one, and they sit side by side.

After power is back online, look for four separate pressure plates placed in distinct spots around the map. Every person in the match must stand on one of the plates to trigger Pack-a-Punch. The locations are as follows:

  • Opposite Quick Revive in the spawn area.
  • In the tunnel connecting the mine cart route to the power room.
  • Directly across from the power switches inside the power room.
  • After the bridge, before the tunnel that leads toward the waterfall.

Solo play changes the setup: when you’re running one player, only one of the four plates will be active. With two players, two plates will respond; with three players, three plates will respond; and with a full squad of four, all four plates will be active.

You can tell quickly if someone isn’t on their assigned plate. The statues in front of the plate will keep a rotating element if that requirement isn’t met, so if you’re coordinating, make sure you’re calling out to teammates who haven’t committed to their position.

Once the statues stop moving, you’ll know all needed pressure plates have been correctly stood on. At that point, head back toward spawn and climb the temple stairs to reach Pack-a-Punch. You’ll get roughly 30 to 45 seconds to Pack-a-Punch your weapon, and if the window runs out, water will knock you off the stairs. When that happens, you’ll have to activate Pack-a-Punch again from the start.

If you’re playing in a public lobby, expect friction — the plates must be activated at the same time, so random teammates may not sync up. Communication becomes the deciding factor for whether you can actually reach Pack-a-Punch when you want to.
