Black Ops 2 Origins Guide: Unlock the One-Inch Punch (Iron/Thunder Fists)

No matter what you call it—the One-Inch Punch, the Iron Fists, or the Thunder Fists—you’ll want it in Origins. These hard-hitting melee tools in Black Ops 2 Zombies let you clear hordes by punching through zombies, and they’re an effortless way to instantly take down any undead foe through Round 19. Here’s how to unlock it in every run.

If you’re doing the Little Lost Girl easter egg in Origins, this walkthrough is built to guide you step-by-step, whether you play solo or in co-op.

How to Get the One-Inch Punch Melee in Origins

In Origins, there are four Soul Boxes spread across the map, and each one requires 30 kills. The catch is that every Soul Box sits within the reach of a Giant Robot. If that robot steps on a Soul Box, the affected box will reset back to 0 kills.

  • Soul Box #1 is located near Generator 5 and Stamin-Up.
  • Soul Box #2 can be found to the left of the mound (near Pack-a-Punch) on the route toward Generator 4.
  • Soul Box #3 is by the Wall-Buy at Generator 4 and Jugger-Nog.
  • Soul Box #4 is outside of the Church.

Once a Soul Box is finished, you’ll know immediately because its lid will close, then rise into the ground, and finally teleport away. You won’t need to track where it goes until you’ve completed all four boxes.

Timing matters. Aim to work on the Soul Boxes after Round 8. That’s when zombies start spawning more often and moving faster, but attempting the task on earlier rounds can lead to the Giant Robot interrupting or stopping your progress.

After all four Soul Boxes are completed, head to the Ritual of the Ancients rewards chest at Generator 6 or Generator 1. Interact with the bottom icon—the one showing four circles—to open the chest and claim the One-Inch Punch. After that unlock, every melee weapon can one-hit kill zombies up to Round 19.

You can also upgrade the One-Inch Punch, but this is tied directly to the second-to-last step of the Origins Easter Egg. A separate guide is referenced for walking through that upgrade process.
